**POSITION OVERVIEW**

**You will be a fantastic match for this role if you bring**:

- A master’s degree in urban, Regional, and/or Social Planning or equivalent combination of experience and education, and a bachelor’s degree in a related field(s);
- A minimum of 8 years of development planning experience, preferably with a local government or the private development industry.
- Membership or eligibility for full membership in the Planning Institute of BC;
- Thorough knowledge of the principles, practices and laws applicable to the planning profession.
- Ability to lead and be proactive.
- Ability to interact with all levels of employees.
- Strong interpersonal skills and political acumen.
- Strong desire for collaboration and teamwork.
- Excellent writing and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to balance multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Ability to follow through on commitments and meet assigned deadlines; and
- High degree of organizational and time management skills.

**DESIRABLE EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE**
Master’s Degree in community, social, or regional planning, plus considerable related professional planning experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

**KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES**
- Thorough knowledge of the principles, practices, techniques, methods and procedures applicable to municipal planning.
- Thorough knowledge of the policies, rules, regulations, bylaws and legislation governing the work.
- Considerable knowledge of economics, municipal finance and sociology as applicable to municipal planning.
- Considerable knowledge of research methods, statistical techniques and trends and developments in the field of municipal planning.
- Ability to plan, assign and supervise the work of a group of professional and technical subordinates, and to provide advice and guidance on planning matters.
- Ability to process and oversee the more complex types of planning projects.
- Ability to work with mínimal supervision.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external contacts.

**LICENCES AND CERTIFICATES**
- Driver's Licence for the Province of British Columbia.
- Membership or eligibility for membership in the Canadian Institute of Planners.
