Reporting to the Vice President, and District Manager - Southern Alberta, the District Safety Manager, is responsible for leading the development and continuous improvement of the Buildings (commercial construction) Health, Safety and Environment programs and initiatives.

This position is based out of toronto

**Responsibilities**:

- Support a culture that encompasses the highest ethical standards aligned with the organization.
- Lead the development and continuous improvement of the Buildings HSE programs and initiatives.
- Work with the Building’s Leadership team and the ensure the organization’s HSE are implemented consistently across Buildings.
- Oversee and recommend continuous improvement as needed to the HSE Manual, Policies and Procedures.
- Provide leadership, coaching and direction to the Safety Coordinators, Advisors and Administrators to ensure the achievement of the HSE KPI’s as identified.
- Work with the National Safety group to represent the organization when dealing with provincial and federal regulators.
- Work collaboratively with stakeholders to ensure HSE standards are communicated, implemented and measured.
- Ensure timely reporting of HSE related statistical summaries, including leading / lagging indicators.
- Audit the Health, Safety and Environmental Management System to ensure the overall integrity of the system is maintained.
- Ensure that incident investigations are completed in a timely manner and the results, including corrective actions, are communicated to Senior Management and appropriate stakeholders.
- Ensure corrective actions identified within the HSE Management System are assigned, completed and closed out as appropriate.
- Support the delivery of safety program training to employees.
- Act as a leadership resource for Building’s client proposals and/or inquiries.
- Ensure Safety Coordinators are actively promoting, engaging and facilitating the HSE program and objectives.
- Support the District HSE representatives and, as required, the site Leadership Team in addressing HSE related topics.
- Directly participate in all Serious Incident Investigations.
- As requested, provide input when hiring onsite HSE positions. Leads the development of all HSE personnel through on-going coaching and mentoring to ensure effective, safe project delivery and individual career development.
- Support the District Vice President in the development of future safety professionals, coordination of succession plans and career planning by participating in performance reviews and feedback.

**Qualifications**:

- Undergraduate degree in a relevant field
- National Construction Safety Officer Certificate
- CRSP Certification an asset
- 10+ years’ Health and Safety field experience
- Comprehensive working knowledge of OH&S/OSHA Acts and Regulations
- Thorough knowledge and experience in health and safety management systems and program implementation
- Skilled in managing internal auditing programs
- Possess and develop strong external networks (academic, associations and leading employers)
- Self-motivated, action oriented and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment or independently on routine tasks with a positive attitude
- Highly developed interpersonal skills and strong customer service orientation
- Demonstrates a sense of urgency and strong commitment to achieving goals
