**Overview**:
Seeking a full time qualified HSE Advisor (NCSO or CSO) to join our construction team. The HSE advisor will work closely with the HSE manager to ensure that all H&S practices are in compliance with local legislation regulatory requirements and HSE Standards and where any standards differ, the higher safety standard shall prevail.

The **HSE advisor **position will include the development and coordination of various construction projects throughout the Lower Mainland and will include HSE training, inspections, coaching, mentoring, and project safety rollout and compliance.

**Responsibilities**

Responsible for assisting in the identification of possible losses; evaluating the risk in such loss exposure; developing and implementing a plan to correct or prevent a loss and audit the plan to ensure its effectiveness.
- Provide daily guidance and direction in HSE programs at the employee / supervisor level to ensure a common and effective approach.
- Regularly conduct training, and / or training needs assessments (Train the Trainer Programs).
- Perform and contribute to the Site Training Plans by conducting employee orientations; emergency response training; and coordination of modular training programs for the construction activities.
- Conduct field inspections, audits, reporting and managing the corrective actions.
- Conduct incident investigations and familiar with determining Root Causes that led to the incident.
- Maintain all training logs and documentation associated with permits and regulatory requirements, and all safety related activities.
- Maintain filing system regarding worker training and safety.
- Manage, review, assess and / or complete job hazard analysis (JHA’s) with site leadership and ensure that they are communicated, posted and filed.
- Maintain and update safe work practices and equipment and utilize them in the day-to-day training.
- Ensure inspections by regulatory agencies are coordinated and deficiencies minimized and corrected.
- Coordinate area deficiencies and monthly safety inspections.
- Review accidents and incidents which occur in the area of responsibility.
- Establish a proactive safety culture.
- Advise, assist, and audit line management to ensure that effective HSE Management System is implemented and functioning.
- Encourage leading indicator programs such as near miss reporting, training, inspections and leadership engagement programs.

**Requirements included**:

- A Minimum of five years total construction and or mining experience would be an asset
- A Minimum of five years’ experience in an Occupational Health and Safety role
- Experience with Air track and Hydraulic drilling operations and be familiar with construction activities including Oil and Gas.
- Minimum Level I First Aid.
- NCSO certification or CSO.
- WHMIS
- Train-the-trainer ability and experience
- Excellent written and verbal skills
- Intermediate computer skills (e.g. MS Office including Excel and Word) are essential.
- Must be willing to continue with on-going upgrading in Occupational Health and Safety.
- Must be a team player and committed to zero harm in the work place.

Pay: $33.37-$45.08 per hour
