Vancouver, Canada SRK Consulting Full time

As part of the SRK North American group, the Health and Safety Advisor will help ensure the health, safety, and security of SRK employees by implementing and supporting health and safety initiatives. They will be committed to communicating safety policies and serving as a resource for employees.

**Job duties and responsibilities include**:

- Monitor the use and improvement of Health and Safety (H&S) standards throughout SRK North America and ensure all business units have access to resources to implement those standards.
- Foster an environment of collaboration and active participation in H&S where employees understand and identify risks to make the best decisions.
- Maintain and update written H&S plans and supporting documents.
- Maintain accurate and complete records that meet regulatory requirements.
- Manage H&S training programs, including new hire orientation.
- Develop strategies in conjunction with Legal and Human Resources to ensure compliance with all H&S regulations in Canada and the U.S., including MSHA, OSHA, or other regulatory bodies.
- Monitor regulatory developments in H&S for new and/or revised compliance obligations.
- Responsible for Health and Safety data management including trend analysis for assigned sites.
- Promote H&S awareness through internal company communications.
- Investigate accidents and near-miss incidents. Determine causes, implement corrective measures as needed, evaluate trends in incidents, and make recommendations for prevention.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives and other control measures that mitigate risks to employees.
- Coach and counsel project managers about various safety-related topics.
- Conduct periodic office and site visits/audits/surveys to assure H&S best practices.
- Strong proficiency in MS Office Suite (particularly Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
- 4 - 8 years of experienceÂ
- Tertiary qualification in H&S or related disciplineÂ
- Experience working in heavy industry, mining, engineering and / or major EPC / EPCM projectsÂ
- Strong knowledge and understanding of relevant HSE legislation and standardsÂ
- Excellent communication skills including presentation and reporting writingÂ
- Experience in providing health, safety and security adviceÂ
