**About the Department of Student Affairs**:
The Students portfolio at Mount Royal broadly encompasses Student Affairs, Enrolment Services, and International Education, delivering support and services that are inextricably linked with the teaching and learning outcomes academic departments are tasked with achieving. We support the University’s mission by assisting students, staff and faculty through a variety of departments, including: Admissions and Recruitment, Residence Services, the Office of the Registrar (Academic Scheduling; Records; Registration, and; Student Awards and Financial Aid), Access and Inclusion Services, Career Services, the Office of Student Community Standards, Student Success and Learning (Academic Advising; Student Experience, and; Student Learning Services), Wellness Services, Cougars Athletics and Recreation, the Iniskim Centre, International Education, Student Systems and Communications, and Strategic Enrolment Data.

**About the Role**:
The Manager oversees specific areas of Residence Services (residence life team, front desk and guest services operations, and information technology) and provides leadership in the development of a residential environment which fulfills the goals and vision of Residence Services.

The Manager, Residence Services reports directly to the Director, Residence Services and oversees the residence experience of approximately 1000 on-campus students located in both East and West Residence. They manage Guest Services through direct supervision of the Front Desk Coordinator. They supervise the Information Technology Coordinator and as such, oversee the technical environment of the resident population. In addition, this position oversees the Residence Life Team including three Residence Life Coordinators who in turn, supervise a team of Resident Advisors (casual staff).

**Responsibilities**:
Along with the Director, the incumbent is part of the Residence Services leadership team and is a major contributor in designing and delivering the departmental vision and the strategic plan. They are charged with developing and enforcing community standards, managing the student judicial process and Student Conduct Guide and acts as a key decision maker in crisis and emergency cases leading up to and including student eviction. The incumbent will develop and manage the implementation of specialized programs and activities in support of student transition, success and leadership for students living on campus at Mount Royal University. They provide visionary direction within Residence Services to aid in the development and implementation of assessment models for the student experience that support the ongoing strategic evolution of programs and services. This position offers opportunities for creativity and innovation in the development of strategies to promote and deliver services.

The incumbent is responsible for decisions or actions that relate to the day-to-day operations of the Residence Life program. Such decisions impact the degree to which time and resources (human and financial) are effectively used within the area, as well as the credibility of the office as a whole to both those inside and outside of the University community. Decisions made by the incumbent may have a direct impact on the Residence Services department. The incumbent is responsible for providing advice and information to University leaders that may have operational impacts and implications on resources, policies, and future directions. The incumbent has significant latitude for developing creative solutions within their responsibility areas. There will also be the opportunity to affect larger department policy and work procedures through teamwork responsibilities. Problem solving and response to emergency situations will be essential and expected.
