**Job Function**:
The Environmental Services team has approximately one hundred employees who set corporate environmental policy and provide environmental services and support for the planning, design, construction, operation and maintenance of Hydro One assets. We have a highly skilled and experienced workforce which obtains environmental approvals and provides construction support for lines and stations projects and operations. Our team is committed to protecting the environment and striving for continual improvement in our environmental management system and performance.

**General Accountabilities**:

- Treat safety as a top priority.
- Support elements of the Environment Management System (EMS) consistent with ISO 14001:2015 with a focus on environmental aspects to enable our employees and third parties to protect the environment.
- Maintain HODS governance framework for environmental programs, including the development and review of policies, procedures, and standards.
- Keep abreast of legislative changes and anticipate potential impacts to operations.
- Identify the need and participate in the development of environmental training.
- Support audit/compliance plans and participate in regular audits and corrective actions plans to ensure compliance and address deficiencies.
- Collect and prepare environmental related materials for quarterly Board reporting, CSR and other external reporting.
- Facilitate environmental record keeping.
- Develop and track environmental work plans, budget estimates and schedules.
- Coordinate environmental studies for infrastructure projects and maintenance programs.
- Coordinate liaising with regulatory agencies, Indigenous Communities other project stakeholders, as well as internal groups on various aspects of environmental planning.
- Develop contract specifications/RFP/scope of work requests, evaluate proposals, award and administer consultant contracts for environmental services
- Develop plans to mitigate environmental effects with an emphasis on natural heritage (including Species at Risk), groundwater, cultural heritage and soils.
- Engage with regulatory agencies, Indigenous communities, project stakeholders, and public, as well as internal groups on various aspects of environmental assessment commitments, approvals and permitting per Hydro One policies, while contributing to options and resolutions.
- Prepare reports, documentation and presentation materials related to environmental assessments, approvals and permitting.
- Document, organize and file project information appropriately within existing systems including Borealis consultation software, Commitment Layer of GIS, and in SharePoint.
- Provide advice, guidance, and assistance to project and asset managers responsible for new transmission and distribution projects and refurbishment of existing facilities regarding environmental aspects, applicable legislation, and guidelines, including corporate policies and procedures.
- Prepare and present technical and organizational information to internal or external groups.
- Perform other duties as required.

**Selection Criteria**:
**Education**:

- Four-year university degree in environmental studies, planning, natural sciences or a related field.
- Experience and knowledge of environmental management systems (e.g. ISO 14001:2015).
- Knowledge and experience in environmental planning, permitting, field practices and monitoring in support of linear infrastructure projects.

**Experience**:

- Experience undertaking environmental studies, assessment, permits and approvals in the following areas: natural heritage, aquatic/terrestrial/avian ecology, hydrology, hydrogeology, geotechnical, environmental site assessment, excess soil, designated substances, socioeconomic, cultural heritage, archaeology, and related fields
- Requires experience with Species at Risk Legislation, and a strong understanding of natural environment features and ecosystems to allow for timely, appropriate, and compliant implementation of environmental mitigation plans for construction.
- Strong understanding of environmental issues and legislative requirements.
- Experience with environmental permits, licenses, and approvals (provincial, municipal, and federal) and associated guidelines, standards and best practices associated with environmental assessments, permitting and construction effect mitig
