Are you a detail-oriented financial expert with a knack for managing complex grants and special projects? Join us as our new **Financial Analyst, Research/Special Projects**

Under the direction of the Director, Budget Administration and Research Reporting Services, the Financial analyst is responsible for the accounting in all research and special projects, ensuring the University meets its obligations in grant agreements and contracts.

**What You’ll Do**:

- Working with the Research Office to integrate current financial reporting and compliance processes into a new grants management information system.
- Administering research grant, contract accounts and special project accounts.
- Reading new research contracts and agreements to ensure the University is aware of and meets all its financial obligations.
- Using Microsoft Access to manage research accounting functions, including keeping the databases up to date, updating the research schedule to track invoicing and reporting needs.
- Carrying out grant and contract invoicing as required by agreements including coordinating with faculty members to ensure deliverables have been met, followup up on unpaid invoices.
- Recording and reconciling grants receivable for Federal Tri-Agency grants and preparing year-end audit confirmation letters with respect to accounts receivable. Receiving and ensuring payments are properly recorded.
- Working with the Research Office and other University departments to create planning budgets for institutional research grants.
- Having an understanding of payroll taxation issues to identify taxable benefits.
- Preparing and authorizing individualized financial reports as required by contracts and agreements (may include foreign currency statements).
- Regularly reviewing research and special project accounts for over-expenditure and working with the account owner to resolve the issue.
- Closing expired research and special project funds, and ensuring any remaining balances are returned to the proper project sponsors.
- Overseeing a regular internal audit process over Federal Tri-Agency research accounts to ensure transactions are eligible according to research sponsor guidelines and regulations.
- Training faculty and administrative staff on research sponsor regulations and University policy so they can properly manage their money.
- Processing journal vouchers to correct accounting errors in research and special project accounts.
- Preparing research and special project related financial and statistical reports as required either internally or externally.
- Assisting funding agency/sponsor auditors by providing necessary data and internal control information, and developing solutions to audit recommendations.
- Recommending and initiating new or revised interdepartmental procedures which will facilitate recording and reporting functions, and discussing and promoting same with department heads and other administrators.
- Acting in a resource capacity to all departments at the University in relation to financial and accounts matters.

Position Requirements

**What You’ll Bring to this Position**:

- Bachelor’s Degree in Administration or Commerce.
- Successful completion of a professional accounting designation (CPA, CA, CMA, CGA)
- Three or more years experience in related duties.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.]
