Volker Stevin Canada and its subsidiaries across Western Canada are dedicated to providing the highest level of quality services in the areas of: construction, project management, highway maintenance, civil works and bridge construction, maintenance and rehabilitation expertise, and asphalt/aggregate plants and pits.

Reporting to the General Manager, the **Project Coordinator **will provide overall support for Construction Projects with the City of Calgary and surrounding area to ensure Volker Stevin Contracting has aligned expertise necessary to deliver on business development opportunities.

**General Responsibilities**:

- Deliver estimates that are timely, accurate, and well thought out to ensure success in the bidding and award of projects.
- Supervise underground construction projects to ensure they follow planned estimates.
- Support field crews to ensure projects are delivered in a safe, efficient, timely and cost-effective manner.
- Identify any major discrepancies in project costs and construction standards to the underground project team immediately.
- Work side by side with an Underground field team to complete the finished product for client delivery.
- Provide ongoing communication with internal team, direct supervisor, field crews and clients on all phases of project construction.
- Keep an accurate record of all information required to deliver on the project efficiently, produce necessary reconciled billings up to final product delivery and final invoicing.
- Review tender specifications and drawings.
- Prepare and carry out estimating takeoffs, bid estimates and on-site inspections.
- Attend pre-tender meetings.

**Leadership**:

- Ensure all contact with client is handled in a constructive, productive, “can-do”, problem solving approach, contributing for overall Customer Satisfaction
- Collaborate, coordinate, guide and support the field team so crews are working safely, project is progressing accordingly so overall service delivery levels are optimized.
- Partner with supervisor on aligning skills development with present and future position requirements.
- Take the initiative to learn and develop own skills to optimize delivery of accurate and timely project estimating actives.

**Customer Service**:

- Be responsible for projecting a professional image in dealing with the public, internal and external clients, suppliers, and subcontractors.
- Build positive relationships through regular and intentional interaction with the infrastructure construction community, e.g., Consultants, Associations, etc.

**Working Environment/Conditions**:

- Professional office environment.
- High level of social contact; works closely with staff.
- Open office environment - moderate noise (i.e., business office with computers, phone, and printers, light traffic).
- Ability to sit at a computer terminal for an extended period.
- Light to moderate lifting at times.

**Safety**:

- Actively engage in Volker Stevin Canada’s culture of Safety Excellence.
- Engage senior management on an ongoing basis regarding safety activities and successes.
- 2 to 6 years estimating experience or a combination of field and estimating.
- CET or P.Eng. is preferred; however, a combination of relevant education and heavy construction experience will be considered.
- Competency to read and interpret plans and specifications.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Microsoft Office proficiency (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Experience with Construction Estimating software, Hardollar preferred.
- Experience with Viewpoint ERP is an asset.
- Shallow Utilities experience an asset.
