Detailed Overview:
Performs a variety of food preparation tasks such as measuring, combining, grinding, blending and slicing food ingredients for food and beverage preparation and production. Assists with food preparation and serving meal. Provides general assistance in food production and distribution as required by Manager, Food Services or designate.

**Responsibilities**:

- Portions out food items according to established menus, quantities and schedules.
- Assists the cook in food preparation by panning, slicing, dicing, grating, pureeing, grinding, flouring and breading.
- Counts, weighs and/or measures ingredients as assigned.
- Unloads, unpacks and stores incoming food and supplies. Matches food and supplies to requisitions, and identifies and records any discrepancies.
- Fills requisitions/order forms for supplies for department as needed, and places for pick up.
- Heats/reheats pre-cooked individual food items as assigned.
- Delivers food items to storage areas. Removes food items from packaging, cans and/or freezer. Labels, packages and transfers food items to freezer storage.
- Rotates food items in storage to minimize spoilage and waste according to established procedures.
- Portions food for patients/residents at meal times. Assists with table service at meal times.
- Prepares food items such as sandwiches, salads, cold plates for patients/residents according to diet information.
- Delivers nourishments and other items to assigned areas.
- Withdraws food items from freezer for plating or heating.
- Sets up meal trays with items such as juice, milk, dessert, condiments, dishware, cutlery, napkins and portions out food and beverages on meal trays following established procedures and standards.
- Cleans work areas, equipment, dishes and utensils according to established guidelines, policies and/or standards.
- Advises Manager or designate of any inoperable, damaged, or unsafe equipment in accordance with established procedures.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
**Education, Training & Experience**

Grade 10 plus one year’s recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Current Food Safe Level 1 certification or equivalent.

**Skills & Abilities**
- Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to deal with others effectively.
- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
- Ability to organize work.
- Ability to operate related equipment.
