Working out of our Head Office in beautiful Nanaimo, BC, the Health and Safety Coordinator works directly with the Corporate HSE Manager with the implementation and maintenance of the FMI Health and Safety Management System. This position also involves some travel to project sites.

**Key Responsibilities and Duties**:

- Provide expertise, guidance, mentoring, development and advisory services to the sites within FMI in all disciplines associated with occupational health and safety management.
- Assist site personnel in implementing occupational health and safety programs.
- Oversee the company’s emergency response program to ensure effective emergency measures are in place.
- Deliver internal training and facilitate employee orientation.
- Performs project safety audits, inspections and job observations, and reports to project managers, supervisors and workers on findings.
- Identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
- Participate in the Joint Health and Safety Committee.
- Complete safety reports for clients and for internal FMI review.
- Assist with incident investigations as required.
- Coordinates injured worker return-to-work programs.
- Conduct hazard/risk assessments
- The position will involve some travel to project sites.

**Education and Experience Requirements**
- **Completion of a post secondary OHS Degree, Diploma or Certificate**:

- Applicants with a provincial certification (e.g. NCSO) and 2 years HSE field experience may also be considered.
- Proven experience with MS software, especially Word, Excel and Power Point, and comfort with other varieties of project and safety management systems is required.

**Note: This position will require periodic support and communication with the Corporate Health and Safety Administrator on specific aspects of health & safety management.**

**Salary**: $20.00-$25.00 per year
