**Job Description**:
Reporting to the Dean, Faculty of Arts, Media and Design, the Academic Chair is responsible for providing academic leadership in the management and administration of faculty, support staff and students in Media Studies.

The successful incumbent will be a forward-thinking individual who is aware of current and future media (and related) industry trends. They will be able to translate this knowledge into strategic direction for the department that is aligned with the College's strategic plan and faculty goals.

The Academic Chair is accountable for the planning, development, delivery, quality assurance, and financial viability of the department's full-time post-secondary programs, non-post-secondary programs and contract training activities. The incumbent is responsible for ensuring that the offerings are responsive and relevant to the needs of the students, employers and the community at large, developing and implementing new initiatives as required to reflect, changing technology, economic and market influences and employment opportunities.

Required Qualifications-
- Minimum nine (9) years relevant experience in media or communications- Minimum of five (5) years recent experience in positions of progressive levels of responsibility- Experience working in an adult education setting either as a result of prior teaching or curriculum development- Excellent interpersonal skills- Excellent oral and written communication skills- Demonstrated planning, organizational and time management skills- Proven ability to analyze situations, make independent decisions and follow up- Proven ability to function under stressful and demanding situations- In-depth knowledge of media and related industry practices, processes, and future developments- In-depth knowledge of curriculum requirements for certificate, diploma and degree level programs- Demonstrated understanding and commitment to student success, teaching excellence, quality education and applied research, preferably in an applied post-secondary environment- Ability to identify and lead the implementation of new educational technology- In-depth knowledge and comprehension of College policies and procedures
