**Job Description**:
The Manager, Indigenous Education and Services (IES), reports to the Executive Director of Indigenous Initiatives and Services and provides operational leadership to Indigenous Education and Services (IES), including the Indigenous Gathering Space and Indigenous Upgrading Program teams. Indigenous Student Services Specialists and Instructional Assistants report to the Manager, IES. The position oversees day-to-day operations of IES teams, focusing on business operations, human resources, financial management, and special projects within IES. The Manager collaborates with partners across the institution and the broader community to fulfill the mandate, objectives, and goals of IES. The Manager also supports the Executive Director in the development and implementation of the Indigenous Action Plan and fulfilling the College’s Indigenization and reconciliation goals.

Indigenous Education and Services:
IES is located within the Vice President Students (AVPS) portfolio. IES is comprised of the Indigenous Gathering Space and Indigenous Upgrading Program teams.

IES is physically located within the Indigenous Gathering Space (IGS). The IGS is a safe, welcoming, supportive, and protected space for Indigenous (First Nations, Métis, and Inuit) students on campus. The IGS team is comprised of Indigenous Student Services Specialists who oversee individual portfolios of programs, services and events that provide personal, social, cultural, and academic supports to Indigenous students at the College.

The Indigenous Upgrading Program (IUP) is located at Musqueam. IUP works in close collaboration with Musqueam Education and Employment and Training to provide Musqueam Community. Members with educational support so that they can attain the educational preparation needed for career or educational goals. IUP Instructional Assistants provide Musqueam learners with highly individualized and flexible support to complete their secondary school education.

The IES team is founded upon teamwork, honesty, and integrity. Team members are Indigenous student services and educational professionals who are dedicated to empowering Indigenous peoples, families, and communities through post-secondary education. IES team members work in close collaboration with colleagues across the College in the spirit of collegiality. IES recognizes and honours the cultural diversity of Indigenous peoples, including gender and sexual diversity, and values the different ways of knowing, being and doing Indigenous. Following traditional teachings, the team takes a culturally grounded, community-based approach to our work.

Qualifications Required:
Education & Experience- Bachelor’s Degree in an appropriate discipline such as education, business administration, accounting or human resources.-
- Minimum five (5) years of recent and progressively senior-level administrative experience including financial, human resources, and operational and/or project management. Experience supporting executive leadership in a unionized, post-secondary educational setting highly desirable.Experience dealing with the broad range of issues related to student services, such as registration matters, mental health, student conduct, and student engagement an asset.-
- As an Indigenous student services professional applicants must have a detailed understanding of the cultures and histories of Indigenous peoples of British Columbia.-
- Applicants must have detailed understanding of the systemic issues and barriers discouraging Indigenous students from pursuing and completing a post-secondary education.-
- IES is a culturally grounded support service. Applicants must have experience living and working with Indigenous communities and have a good understanding of Indigenous cultural values, practices, protocols, and ceremony. Land-based experiences and knowledge are considered an asset. Experience working with Indigenous Elders and Knowledge Keepers is also considered an asset.-
