Reporting to the Supervisor, the ADP Assistant provides personal support to individuals in the Day Program within the framework of Carefor policies and procedures and collaborates closely with members of the program team with the planning and implementation of program activities.

**You will make an impact in the following ways**:

- Collaborates with the ADP Program Coordinator regarding types of programs to be developed to achieve individual goals of clients.
- Assists clients with personal care including eating, toileting, and personal hygiene when necessary.
- Supports the clients to participate as fully as possible in day program activities.
- Ensures safety and security measures for all participating clients.
- Recommends modifications to programs to suit the evolving needs of clients.
- Assists with the implementation of group activities based on clients’ interests and levels of ability.
- Organizes supplies, equipment, and resources for the programs
- Assists with the completion of progress notes and other documentation related to assessments and action plans.
- Assists with the evaluation of client progress and of the program.
- Adheres to all Carefor policies and procedures.
- Implements all IPAC measures as needed.
- Participates effectively as a team member.
- Attends planned in-service and educational sessions.
- Functions and reports in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety legislation, regulations, and Carefor policies and procedures.
- Participates in health and safety training including WHMIS and applies this knowledge in the workplace
- Wears or uses any/all protective equipment or clothing provided by Carefor and does not interfere with protective devices as to change or negate their functions
- Reports the absence of or defect in any equipment or protective device, and which may endanger self or other worker
- Reports any violations of the Health and Safety Act or the regulations, or the existence of any hazard
- Does not use or operate any equipment, machine, device, or work in a manner that may endanger self or other worker
- Ensures all workplace incidents are reported in a timely manner in accordance with legislation, and Carefor policies and procedures for workplace injuries and incidents (eg. WSIB injuries, infection control)
- Adheres to the Carefor standards for conduct and behavior and upholds Carefor's Core Values
- Ensures that confidential information relating to clients, work colleagues, suppliers and Carefor's operations is properly protected and not disclosed to third parties, unless allowed or required under relevant law or regulation
- Treats all people with respect and undertakes duties with care and diligence
- Does not use information obtained in the course of employment for personal financial gain; nor allows that information be used to obtain financial benefit for any other person or company
- Ensures all dealings with clients, suppliers and other parties are kept at arm's length to avoid the possibility of actual or perceived conflicts of interest
- Complies with all statutory and internal disclosure requirements on a timely basis and ensures to the best of ability the accuracy and comprehensiveness of the information
- Due to the changing nature of work, performs other responsibilities and duties as required.
- Participates on committees/project work group as assigned

**You will need to have**:

- Certificate, Diploma or Degree in one of the following: Personal Support Worker, Developmental Service Worker, Gerontology, Recreation, or Social Services Worker
- Experience working with seniors who have Alzheimer’s or Dementia required
- Ability to demonstrate an understanding and caring attitude towards individuals from diverse backgrounds and with special needs
- Good Assessment skills
- Good communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and to work independently
- Current Standard First Aid Certificate and CPR level C Certificate
- Completion of the Food Handler course
- Bilingualism French/English as asset
