Operations Supervisor, Processing Facilities

GFL Environmental is looking for an Operations Supervisor, Processing Facilities to join their growing team in Thunder Bay, ON

**Key Responsibilities**:
Provide training / mentoring of new and current employees in all aspects of safety
Provide onsite job monitoring of employees and equipment to ensure the job is done safety, in a timely manner and completed per customer standards
Perform duties defined by provided daily checklist and document.
Respond to compliance inquiries/concerns.
Oversee sampling and testing of the site systems and functionality of all equipment.
Comply with all Company safety, environmental, administrative and general policies/procedures.
Operate and utilize equipment as required by management.
Maintain operational quality standards as predetermined by management.
Follow all safety and equipment checks and precautions in performance of all duties.
Assist Management with accident investigations and preparing the necessary paperwork.
Ensure all equipment is properly maintained and sufficient supplies are retained on hand for treatment
Participate in GFL’s safety program including safety meetings, last minute risk assessments and job hazard assessments
Professionally represent GFL on all client sites and look for ways to expand services and increase efficiencies
Ensure employees are utilizing proper PPE for job requirements.
Ensure proper supply and usage of all safety equipment.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned

**Knowledge, Skills and Competencies**:
Previous experience with water or wastewater treatment processes, pumps, valves and chemical treatment systems
Previous experience with collection, submission and evaluation of water samples for laboratory analysis
Technician’s diploma in Chemistry, Environmental Studies or Civil Engineeri
Valid Fork Lift Operator’s License is a benefit
TDG knowledge and experience
Excellent communication skills and record keeping skills
Ability to perform physical labour intensive tasks throughout the course of the day
Ability to work independently and organize tasks to completion
Three or more years of Supervisory experience
Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety, Ministry of Transportation would be an asset
Ability to manage change, delays, or unexpected events and work in an environment with constant change
Strong initiative and personal drive to complete tasks with limited oversight
Must be motivated, able to multi-task, and work effectively in a team environment.
