Reporting to Coordinator, Medical Genetics, Women’s Program and under the close supervision and guidance of the Clinical Geneticists and Genetic Counsellor’s, the Genetic Assistant is responsible for assisting with the operations of the genetics program including: screening and accepting/declining patient referrals, preparation and follow up of families for genetic assessment, liaison with other related fields and professionals as a member of the genetics team, coordinating additional testing for patients as directed by the MRP, calling out negative results to patients; and database management.

In addition, this individual liaises with local and provincial partners to disseminate genetic educational material and resource literature.

Regular Full-Time

Rate of Pay**:$31.36 per hour - $39.20 per hour

Hours of Work: 37.5 hours per week

**Qualifications**:

- Successful completion of a Bachelor's Degree in Science - Biology or Genetics
- Proficient knowledge of genetics principles and theory
- Excellent communication skills, ability to impart knowledge to others in a professional and personable manner
- Proficient Ability to research and synthesize information
- Strong computing skills including Microsoft office, knowledge of CERNER system/ Powerchart etc.
- Proficient database knowledge and experience
- Knowledge of web design software
- Ability to work in an unsupervised setting and take initiative for program mandate
- Advanced knoweldge of medical terminlology
- Demonstrated ability to maintain accuracy and attention to detail

**Immunization Requirements**:

- Provide vaccination records or proof of immunity against measles, mumps, rubella and varicella (chicken pox), Hepatitis B, Tetanus/ Diphtheria/Polio; Meningitis.
- Provide documentation of the Tuberculosis skin testing (two step) and COVID vaccine series.
