To help fulfill its mission, LOFT is hiring a** **Life Enrichment Worker**.**

**Job Summary**

Working within a team of other professionals, the Life Enrichment Worker will enhance the quality of life for clients facing complex challenges which could include mental health and/or addiction challenges, cognitive impairment, ongoing physical health issues, responsive behaviors and/or other neurological disorders who are living within our Enhanced Assisted Living programs.

The Life Enrichment Worker plans, coordinates, implements and directs recreational, educational or therapeutic activity programs that assist residents in maintaining and developing intellectual, physical, spiritual, social and recreational opportunities and, further assists in building interpersonal relationships and social skills.

**What You Will Do**
- Plan life enrichment programs and activities that best suit the needs of the individual residents and group activities.
- Interview residents and/or family members to determine activity and program preferences. Complete any required therapeutic/restorative care assessments.
- Develop a Monthly Activity Calendar and implement the activities. Coordinate the activities with other services that may be required to assist (ie food services etc)
- Be responsible for the set-up and clean-up of the activity. Purchase/order supplies for the activity as needed.
- Facilitate both group programming and individual resident programming.
- Coordinate and accompany residents on outings.
- Communicate both orally and in writing with the appropriate staff regarding observation of the resident. Record all interactions in computer Client Information System. Maintain accurate attendance logs of all participants.
- Encourage and assist residents in participating in schedule activities.
- Collaborate with other staff members to plan and generate ideas to improve the activities.
- Support the resident and the Assisted Living team in the development and implementation of a care plan tailored to the residents’ needs and issues designed to improve quality of life and assist in the mitigation of responsive behaviours.
- Develop respectful and trusting relationships with residents using Recovery and Psychosocial Rehabilitation principles;
- Maintain strict confidentiality and follow all other required policies and procedures;
- Consistently interact with clients, staff, family members, other community agencies and partners in a professional manner that reflects favourably on LOFT Community Services;
- Effectively participate as a member of the Assisted Living Team; attend staff/team meetings, client care conferences, other multi-disciplinary meetings, committee meetings etc as required;
- Attend and actively participate in all required training;
- Complete other duties, from time to time, as assigned by the Coordinator and/or Program Manager.

**What You Bring**
Must Haves
- Degree and/or diploma in Therapeutic Recreation or recreation with a therapeutic concentration.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience with vulnerable, older adults and seniors who may be living with mental illness, cognitive and neurological illnesses, addiction challenges and/or responsive behaviours who have been longer term hospital patients.
- Knowledge and training in GPA, Montessori Methods for Dementia, PIECES and Restorative Care.
- Knowledge and proven experience working with clients in a PSR (Psychosocial Rehabilitation) approach.
- Ability to organize and work with individuals and groups in the areas of assessment, program planning and problem solving.
- Ability to interact with clients in a positive and supportive manner.
- Physically able to perform required duties.
- First Aid and CPR certification.
- Good oral and written skills.
- Excellent computer skills.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Demonstrated effectiveness working with mínimal supervision with proven reliability and trustworthiness.
- Valid drivers’ license and access to own vehicle is required.

Nice-to-Haves
- Fluency in Mandarin and/or Cantonese & ability to communicate in another language is an asset.
- Understanding of cultural competency and anti-oppression framework; Reflective of a multi-barriered group, as serviced by the program, a strong asset
