**The opportunity**:
We're looking for a goal-oriented, driven, and hungry sales rep to connect The Straight's audiences with businesses looking for local marketing and advertising solutions. We're looking for someone with a strong background in sales and business development with a keen understanding of media and the importance of community news.

**This is a remote position based in Metro Vancouver.**

**About you**:

- You have strong sales or business development experience, with a track record of negotiating and closing deals.
- You have deep knowledge of digital marketing and the ability to craft smart strategies for clients.
- You have the ability to think on the fly and work in a fast-paced, always changing environment.
- You're savvy with digital tools and can learn quick (some of what we use: Hubspot, Google Workspace, Slack, Beehiiv, Google Analytics).
- You bring an entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to be a self-starter, are self-motivated, and are not afraid of challenges.
- You have excellent communication and presentation skills, and an eye for detail.
- You have proven customer service experience - people love you.

**What you'll do**:

- Own the whole cycle of advertising partnerships, from prospecting to pitching to closing to retaining (together with the publisher).
- Create and build relationships with local and regional brand partners.
- Produce and deliver compelling presentations and media plans.
- Compile and analyze data to find trends.
- Work with internal team to develop sales and marketing strategies.

**Logistics**:

- You live somewhere in Metro Vancouver.
- You'll be a contractor with us, and if all goes well can become a FT employee (and get health benefits).
- You'll get paid a base ($1,000-4,000 depending on experience and time commitment) and earn commission on your sales.
