Lacombe, Canada Ellis Bird Farm Full time

This position is a summer position for 16 weeks assisting with grazing management, range health data collection and vegetation inventories on a small conservation agriculture farm. Primary duties include assisting with the adaptive multi-paddock grazing project, range and livestock data collection, vegetation and weed inventory, and installation and maintenance of watering systems, electric fencing and related equipment. The position will require regular pasture checks and moving cattle as required. Teamwork is essential between Site Manager, farm tenant, and other staff to coordinate resources, plan projects, carryout field work and care for livestock. Knowledge of rotational grazing principles, soil, vegetation identification an asset and previous farm experience is required. Ability to work independently with mínimal supervision in all weather conditions in a rural environment. This position requires the use hand tools, power tools, and equipment (e.g. post pounder, UTV, tractor, mower). Must be physically fit and able to regularly lift 23kg/50lbs. Ability to use a GPS, read and interpret maps and data entry skills an asset. Attention to detail, problem-solving and excellent communication skills are required. May be required to assist with other duties at nature centre, site maintenance and daily chores as required.

**Salary**: $17.50-$18.50 per hour

**Experience**:

- mechanical: 1 year (preferred)

Licence/Certification:

- Class 5 Licence (preferred)
- Journeyman (preferred)
- Trade Certificate (preferred)
