**What This Position is About**:
The Academic Chair, Indigenous Perspectives reports directly to the Vice President, Indigenous Knowledge & Relations and works collaboratively with the Dean, School of General Arts & Sciences, faculty and staff. The Academic Chair develops and implements goals and objectives in alignment with the College’s Strategic and Academic Plan and is responsible for providing academic leadership and management of Indigenous Academic day-to-day operations. The Academic Chair, Indigenous Perspectives provides leadership in academic processes, including new program development, program review, quality assurance, and external accreditation processes ensuring a focus on the needs of students and employers in the labour market. They also contribute to the development of the School budget and multi-year capital plan.
The Academic Chair, Indigenous Perspectives is responsible for the organization and facilitation of Indigenous Program Advisory Committee (PAC) meetings and the implementation of outcomes as well as advises on the inclusion of Indigenous representation on all PACs, college wide. The Academic Chair recruits, supervises, and develops full-time and contract faculty and provides leadership and direction for workload assignments of the School. Through exemplary leadership, engagement, mentoring, support and communication, the Academic Chair models the values of responsiveness, innovation, collaboration, inclusiveness and accountability that are inherent in the Strategic plan. The Academic Chair participates on various cross-College committees, in collaboration with the Vice President, Indigenous Knowledge & Relations, seeks out, and fosters partnerships with industry, the Indigenous community and other educational institutions.
The Academic Chair, Indigenous Perspectives collaborates across disciplines to ensure the authentic and respectful incorporation of Indigenous Intellectual Knowledge, this collaboration includes but is not limited to Academic Operations, advising departments and Indigenous Community Engagement.
The Academic Chair will also serve on and/or lead various internal College committees and liaise with external Indigenous community, partners and organizations to ensure Indigenous Academic inclusion.
**Work Schedules**:
This position has been designated as on-campus and is expected on-site 100% of the time.

**What We Are Looking For**:
Completion of a Master Degree in a relevant discipline along with a minimum of seven years of work experience:
- Demonstrated experience combined with professional experience using Indigenous Pedagogy, epistemology and Indigenous Knowledge Systems.
- Academic leadership experience combined with professional experience in the field or discipline.
- Relevant post-secondary teaching experience.
- Supervision of professional staff within a unionized setting.
- Experience with design, development and delivery.
- Demonstrated relationships and Indigenous community engagement.
- Proven ability to collaborate across disciplines.

- Excellent interpersonal skills including mediation, facilitation, and negotiation skills.
- Excellent organizational, planning, budget and analytical abilities.
- Demonstrated ability to cultivate and foster a collegial, collaborative work environment and empower direct reports.
