Kitchen Lead/prep Cook

Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Kitchen lead/Prep cook to join our team at Banh Mi Diddy Sandwich Shop. You will assist in the preparation of ingredients and perform various tasks to support the smooth operation of of the business and use your leadership skills to manage the kitchen and support the team.
**Responsibilities**:
- Supervise kitchen staff and delegate tasks to ensure efficient workflow
- Uphold pars for ingredients and supplies, coordinating with management to adjust orders as needed
- Oversee food preparation, ensuring adherence to recipes and portion sizes
- Conduct daily prep tasks, including cooking/slicing meats, chopping vegetables, and preparing sauces etc.
- Support the FOH staff for line pars
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in the kitchen area and storage spaces
- Safely operate equipment and maintain equipment (Robotcoupe, meat slicer, fryer etc.)
- Monitor inventory levels and communicate with suppliers to place orders in a timely manner
- Ensure compliance with AHS food safety and sanitation standards, including proper storage and handling of ingredients
- Train new kitchen staff on food preparation techniques, safety procedures, and kitchen protocols
- Handle catering orders - prep, packing, communicating with management about catering requirements
- Full understanding of allergies, dietary requirements and ability to limit cross contamination of common allergens
- Ability to organize (FIFO) and limit food waste
- Create systems to streamline food production, ordering etc.
- Make production schedules based on sales and communication with management
- Lead by example, demonstrating a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and commitment to excellence
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a similar role is an asset
- Strong attention to detail and able to follow recipes accurately - we value consistency
- Excellent communication skills - you care about the team and it shows
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment - you move quickly and make the best use of your time
- Ability to streamline processes and create systems
- A desire to learn and grow - whether it’s learning how to make new recipes, a new personal hobby, or exploring different parts of the business (social media, recipe development, customer retention strategies, expanding our reach etc.) we are happy to find opportunities for you if you’re interested in expanding your skillset

**Job Types**: Part-time, Permanent
Pay: $16.00-$17.00 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 30 per week
