Join our dynamic Open City and Technology Branch as a Business Technology Project Manager. In this role, you'll lead the charge in enhancing customer service, fostering collaboration, and championing city-wide innovation. Your mission? To ensure our services align with business needs, support the city's strategic vision, and deliver dependable, high-quality, cost-effective, sustainable information technology services.

As the Business Technology Project Manager, you'll report to the Program Manager, Business Engagement. Considered a Senior Project Manager, you'll function as an internal management consultant, leveraging top-tier project management tools and processes. Your leadership and management prowess will guide department projects through each project stage. You'll also supervise and advise project team resources. Your key responsibilities include ensuring the successful development of project components on time and within budget, all while ensuring that the project’s success criteria are met and satisfies our sponsors and key stakeholders.

- Ensure projects are strategically aligned and are contributing to the overall goals of the associated strategic plan and goals
- Develop and execute a cross-corporation governance plan to ensure that there is appropriate representation and participation from other departments and sections
- Contribute to the design, implementation and continuous improvement of project management processes and practices
- Manage multiple stakeholders, develop and maintain strong stakeholder relationships
- Participate actively in the development and documentation of project lessons learned and risk management, demonstrating and accounting for impact to the City and the business partner
- Oversee the procurement process for projects including Requests for Information (RFI), Requests for Proposals (RFP), and evaluation Guides and contracts
- Manage multiple high budget and highly complex projects using project management systems and best practices
- Manage and make decisions and recommendations related to project scope, budget, timeline and resourcing
- Manage day-to-day and operational activities of vendors on the project
- Monitor and manage project budget and cash flows to ensure projects are staying within budget, and manage issues when the budget is at risk
- Assess available resources, coordinate and allocate work to staff and consultants and identify internal individuals or teams for ongoing support
- Operate with a high degree of influence and effectiveness, achieved through collaboration and maximizing the contribution of all stakeholders
- Lead multi-disciplinary teams consisting of consultants, contractors, staff and stakeholders
- Foster a culture of collaboration and networking amongst project team, across the corporation
- Engage and support staff in developing action plans to enhance communication, solve problems creatively, promote integration and support excellence
- Ensure team members are empowered, have the competencies, and are well-equipped to perform their roles
- Monitor team member engagement and implement actions plans as necessary
- Mentor and coach team members in a manner that fosters a culture of growth
- Provide monthly status reports and presentations (if required) about key projects to the Executive Leadership Team and department leadership teams
- Additional related duties as required

**Qualifications**:

- One of the following combinations of education and experience:

- Degree in a related discipline, and 8 years of experience in a project management role in an Information Technology environment with an emphasis on complex technology projects **OR;**:

- Post secondary diploma in a related discipline, and 9 years of experience in a project management role in an Information Technology environment with an emphasis on complex technology projects
- Project Management Professional (PMP) designation is required
- Demonstrated ability to model the City’s Cultural Commitments, promote and embody the "One City" approach
- Demonstrated ability to build and nurture innovative, collaborative relationships and partnerships with all levels within the organization
- Excellent project management skills including an understanding of project management methods and techniques (PMBOK best practices)
