To support us on our journey, Sinai Health System is looking for a reduced full-time (0.8 FTE) **Electroencephalogram (EEG)/Electromyography (EMG) Technician** to support our **Rehabilitation Department **Sinai Health - **Mount Sinai Hospital.**

Under the supervision of Neurologist, EEG/EMG Technician performs EEG and EMG tests on adult and neonate patient populations. In addition to the technical duties, the technician orders supplies, ensures the equipment is maintained, infection control practices are implemented, and OHIP billings are completed. The EEG/EMG technician should be able to work independently in complex care settings such as the ICU and neonatal ICU to obtain high quality test results and be able to troubleshoot common and uncommon technical issues that may arise in these settings. This role is also responsible for communicating effectively with other partners (e.g. physicians and nurses) to ensure patients receive timely, quality and safe care.

**Responsibilities**
- Collaborate with other full-time EEG/EMG technician and Neurology team on workflow and patient caseload coverage
- Support ambulatory EMG/EEG clinic, including receiving patient at reception and obtain medical history, including previous EEG and EMG tests
- Prioritize inpatient referrals to facilitate timely assessment and to facilitate patient flow
- Explain the test procedure to the patient and obtain cooperation necessary for a complete examination
- Obtain patient consent for the procedure
- Report abnormal clinical manifestations observed during the test to physician supervisor
- Perform appropriate calibration procedure on the electrodiagnostic instrument for standard recordings
- Manipulate instrument controls for optimal recording of electrical responses
- Keep equipment clean and in operating conditions, detect instrument malfunctions, make minor maintenance adjustment
- Ensure patient results are saved appropriately in the patient health record
- Report need for repairs or maintenance with Biomed
- Other duties as assigned
- Job Requirements- Registered with the Canadian Association of Electroneurophysiology Technologists or similar professional association
- Successful completion of a Diploma of Technology in Electrophysiology or equivalent
- Expertise in the performance of nerve conduction studies and adult and neonatal electroencephalograms in an inpatient and outpatient setting including adult and neonatal ICUs
- Registration with Canadian Association of Electroneurophysiology Technologists or similar professional association
- CPR certification
- Strong interpersonal skills to establish successful rapport with patients, public and staff
- Capacity and sensitivity to deal with severely ill patients and the circumstances that surround these patients
- Self-directed learner
- Excellent organizational skills
- Demonstrated satisfactory work performance and attendance history
