The Downtown Community Centre (DCC) Casual Relief Worker supports the daily activities of the Downtown Community Centre. Primary responsibilities for this position include: maintaining a safe and clean environment for all, providing support in the facilitation of recreational programs, helping to ensure that programs run as scheduled, and ensuring that any necessary clean-up of kitchen and/or storage of supplies is completed at close of shift.

To succeed, you will have an excellent understanding of the issues faced by our client group. This includes experience working with individuals from diverse backgrounds who face multiple barriers, such as substance use, mental health concerns, low incomes, and negative impacts of colonialism and racism.
A narrow selection of the larger scope and responsibilities for this position are as follows:
- Maintain the safety of the DCC environment, including monitoring bathrooms and courtyard.
- Provide front desk coverage and admin support.
- Assist in program and/or special event facilitation as directed.
- Greet people in a friendly manner, respond to questions and requests, refer individuals to appropriate community resources as needed.
- Foster positive relationships with clients and the community by maintaining a welcoming environment for all.
- General cleaning, as well as setup and takedown of programming equipment.
- Utilize a direct communication model with supervisor to ensure lines of communication are consistent and reliable by providing updates.
**Qualifications**
**Education**
- A certificate in social work, Therapeutic Recreation and/or Leisure Studies, Child Youth Counselling, Mental Health, or a related field.
**Experience**
- One (1) to three (3) years of experience in recreation programming, community development, or equivalent combination of experience and training.
**Requirements**:
- Ministry of Public Safety and Solicitor General Criminal Record Check.
