**CORE DUTIES**

**Training**
- Deliver AMSA’s & industry training programs using adult education principles to instruct, facilitate, and assess participant learning in both virtual and in-person settings.
- Facilitate Mine Rescue and Safety training workshops and symposiums.
- Support/facilitate weekend as well as weekday training.
- Ensure students are thoroughly trained in the courses being offered.
- Ensure students are aware of Industry Standards, Occupational Health and Safety legislation, and any other applicable documentation.
- Offer supplementary training to individuals who were unsuccessful during an exam or skills assessment.
- Transfer knowledge by sharing experiences and demonstrating skills.

**Course Revision / Development**
- Research, develop, and present specific training course criteria relating to mine rescue, emergency response and industry safety standards.
- Assist in the design of learning environments and materials that adhere to adult learning principles and promote inclusivity.
- Define learning objectives and conducting needs assessments to understand member needs and learning styles.
- Ensure all student training records are accurate and up to date.
- Provide support to AMSA’s member trainers with their training requirements.

**Other Duties**
- Act as the Chief Judge/Coordinator for the Annual Alberta Mine Rescue Competition.
- Perform course delivery and instructor audits to assure continuity of delivery and compliance with AMSA’s training standards.
- Act as a technical resource and provide advise on Emergency Response Programs.
- Be able to travel to external client’s locations when required.
- Perform member requested site audits to provide an outside review of Mine Rescue programs for continued improvement of operational effectiveness, plans and procedures.
- Represent AMSA on technical committees and trade fairs.
- Promote and establish excellent Government of Alberta OHS and member relationships.
- Assist in the creation and implementation of ERPs and Mock Experiences.

**QUALIFICATIONS**

**Education**
- Mine Rescue Certification
- College, University or applicable designation(s)
- Relevant certifications or a degree/diploma in adult education
- NFPA 1041 is considered an asset

**Experience **_**Required**_
- Minimum of 3 years in Emergency Response and/or Mine Rescue
- Experience training adult learners
- Effective communication skills
- Strong customer service/member relations skills
- Ability to adapt to changing schedules and priorities, can switch focus between multiple tasks and meet deadlines while working individually or as part of a team
- Ability to be proactive, self-motivated, and self-directed
- Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office including PowerPoint, and able to learn new software programs as required)
- Ability to deal with members, students, and the public in a positive, courteous, and respectful manner
- Fluent in the English language (reading, written, and spoken)
- Class 5 Driver’s License and a clean driver’s abstract
- **Preferred / Considered an Asset**_
- Mining industry and heavy equipment experience/knowledge
- Knowledge of adult instructional development, learning theory, principles, instructional design, training methodologies, learning management systems, and competency assessment
- Experience towing a trailer

- Capable of facilitating AMSA’s courses to meet student requirements offering technical support and expertise as necessary.
- Utilize a project management approach for course development and classroom management.
- Exhibit professionalism in representing AMSA, with a keen focus on student and membership satisfaction.

**Compensation and Work Structure**
- AMSA will offer a competitive salary and benefit package. This position will be full time at 40/week with some evening and weekend work.
- Some travel to mine sites across the province will be required.
- Reports to the Operations Manager
