**JOB RESPONSIBILITIES**

SOAR Community Services offers a continuum of social housing services to meet client needs ranging from homelessness to independent living. As part of the continuum, Cornerstone House supports formerly homeless clients in preparing for semi
- and independent living by providing emergency, short
- and long-term accommodation.

Cornerstone House offers two separate programs within its physical space including a 14-bed shelter space and a 11-bed transitional housing residence for both males and females between the ages of 18-29 years of age. Cornerstone House works with individuals who are precariously housed or at risk of homelessness and provides them with a safe place to stay, help and support with counselling and life skills coaching to support the transition towards independent living.

As a Support Counsellor, you will:

- Assist with established Support Plans
- Work collaboratively with the Cornerstone team in order to ensure program delivery to all youth clients
- Integrate a harm reduction approach
- Help clients develop the skills and resources they need to enhance their social functioning.
- Tour the facilities to ensure the residences, clients and grounds are safe and secure.
- Monitor, distribute and document medication.
- Prepare meals/snacks for clients and replenish kitchen supplies for meals.

**Hours of work**: 11:30 p.m. - 7:30 a.m. Saturday through Wednesday

**Training**: Initial comprehensive training related to all aspects of the role, as well as access to ongoing professional development

**COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS**

Hourly wage: starting at $21.30 plus shift premiums

**REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS**
- Have a college diploma in the Human/Social Services field
- Have a minimum of 1-year combined student placement and/or paid experience working in a therapeutic and/or correctional residential setting or with individuals involved in the justice system
- Be proficient in MS Office and be familiar with databases
- Access to reliable transportation, as some travel may be required
- Ability to manage exposure to vicarious traumatic stress
