Summer Position - Chamber Office Assistant

Start date: June 5th

Job intro:
Ideally this position would start June 5 and last for the duration of 10 weeks, 30 hrs per week. There is some flexibility on the start date if required.

The student will be required to work at the Chamber office, located at 205-8 Old Enfield Road, Enfield.

The EHCC is looking for a Summer Student to assist with office duties during a regular work week and to help while Chamber staff are on vacation.

This could include but is not limited to: working on various projects, such as social media, the creation of promotional materials, archiving of files, and auditing of members and benefits.

The student will also help to participate in the planning and implementation of a Workplace Education Celebration barbeque taking place during the summer which celebrates the dedication of those who participate in the business skills training through the EHCC. As well as other possible summer events including the Volunteer Appreciation Day, where the volunteer board members and committee members are shown our appreciation for their hard work and time given throughout the year.

A typical day with the Chamber would look like:

- Interacting with members of the EHCC and community as they drop into the office.
- Interacting with EHCC office tenants and board members.
- Answering office phone and relaying messages in a prompt manner.
- Using Trello to prioritize and track the project tasks with Executive Director and Admin
- Learn and adhere to the chamber’s policies. Read the EHCC Bylaws and Strat Plan
- Assist with the preparation and planning of board and committee meetings.

Special Projects:

- Assist with the planning of the Workplace Ed Celebration barbeque, and any other events.
- Assist with the implementation of a social media strategy, along with launching the Linked In platform.
- Implement member-2-member discounts.
- Archiving of files.
- Assisting with the creation of promotional materials for EHCC such as banners, rack cards, and flyers to be used for promotional purposes.
- Website page project of Past EHCC Presidents.
- Create flow charts from established procedures.

What’s Most Important:

- Education level Grade 12 with preference given to those with one year of post-secondary education in business, business administration, or marketing.
- Experience or knowledge of the use of Microsoft Office 365
- Experience using social media, especially Linked In.
- Able to keep accurate records and documentation of work.
- Strong, professional communication skills.
- The ability to work independently and with a team.
- Strong organizational skills.

Work Term Outcomes:

- Learn professional office administration duties.
- Develop marketing skills.
- Gain experience with event planning.
- Experience working for a Not-for-Profit, overseen by a volunteer Board.
- Become familiar with the structure and function of a board of directors.
- Gain experience and proficiency with MS Office 365, CRM software, MailChimp, WordPress, Linked In, and other office tools.
- Improvement in written skills, while developing strong, professinal verbal communication skills.
- Gain experience and knowledge from working with a broad range of industry sectors and size of businesses.

Benefits and Retention:

- Weekdays with the possibility of an occasional Saturday.
