**Job Purpose **(A brief overview of the purpose of the job and why it exists)

Manages all mechanical maintenance activities within the plant. Primary function is to maintain and continually improve plant reliability and operations within a fixed budget and to provide a safe operating environment by performing the following duties personally or through subordinates.

- Manages departmental KPI's; Confers with management, engineering, and quality control personnel to resolve maintenance problems and recommend measures to improve operations and conditions of machines and equipment. (Is a member of the Energy Management Team NRG).
- Oversees repairs, maintenance, and installation of machines, tools, and equipment to ensure continuous production operations. Inspects operating machines and equipment for conformance with operational standards.
- Approves preventive maintenance program in conjunction with engineering and maintenance staff. Reviews production, quality control, and maintenance reports and statistics to plan and modify maintenance activities.
- Plans, develops, and implements new methods and procedures designed to improve operations, minimize operating costs, and effect greater utilization of labor and materials. Reviews new product plans and discusses equipment needs and modifications with design engineers.
- Directs training of workers to improve work performance and acquaint workers with company policies and procedures.
- Prepares department budget and monitors expenditure of funds in budget.

- Manages subordinates supervisors who will supervise all hourly employees in the Maintenance Department.
- Confers with workers' representatives to resolve grievances.
- Oversees activities of workers fabricating or modifying machines, tools, or equipment to manufacture new products or improve existing products. Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of each unit.
- Carries out management responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education Four-year university degree in engineering or related field;

Experience - Five to seven years mechanical related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Knowledge (technical/practical/managerial)
- To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of SAP, PI, AutoCad, Project, GPD Manufacturing software; PowerPoint; Access; Excel Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.
