Since its inception in 1972, Mission Community Services has maintained a focus on helping fellow community members who need assistance to cope with the realities of life. What started out as neighbours helping neighbours over 50 years ago has evolved into an organization that operates dozens of programs applicable to virtually all populations in the community.
We have an opening for an Full-Time Outreach Worker on shift Sunday thru Thursday.
**What you’ll do**
An Outreach Worker provides support, direction, assistance, and advocacy services to clients including, but not limited to, those facing challenges with stable housing, addictions, mental health, and HIV.
- Build relationships and maintain connections with associated community agencies, health/social services, and organizations.
- Maintain records to ensure that reports and statistics are accurate and meaningful.
- Connect with those at risk of being homeless or who are homeless and assess their suitability for available programs.
- Follow BC Housing’s client guidelines for services, currently the program is Youth, Women who have experienced violence or are at-risk of violence, People of Aboriginal descent, People leaving corrections or hospitals.
**What you bring**
Post-secondary education, plus a minimum 2 years’ experience working with relevant population, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Current First Aid, Non-Violent Crisis Intervention and Food Safe Certification
- Successful completion of Criminal Record check
**Knowledge, Skills and Abilities**
- Excellent communication, organizational, computer and problem-solving skills essential
- Culturally competent
- Knowledge of local resources
Department: Community Outreach
Status: Full-time 37.5 hours per week
Wage: Grid 10 ($21.63-25.19)
Start date: ASAP
This position is open to all applicants and union membership is required.
**Salary**: $21.63-$25.19 per hour
