Reporting to the Manager, Development Data, the **Specialist, Development Data** is integral in ensuring that the Development team has accurate and timely data to support donor cultivation and strategic decision making. This role is primarily responsible for data input/extraction and database hygiene within the Development team. The individual in this role will maintain a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.

The **Specialist, Development Data** works collaboratively and effectively across the entire Development team and with other departments across the Wilder Institute Calgary Zoo.

**What you will do**:

- Help manage all aspects of information in Tessitura to ensure accurate reporting, data integrity, donor information, and flow of information including updating donor contact information.
- Conduct ongoing maintenance of donor and prospect records in Tessitura, including, but not limited to, duplications, error correction, segmentation, and managing contact preferences.
- Support the Development team in maintaining accurate metrics through data entry.
- Generate recurring and by request lists, including event invites, mailing lists, and donor listings.
- Generate recurring and by request reports for the Development team.
- Contribute to process and policy documentation for the Development Data team.
- Assist the Manager, Development Data with projects related to database management.
- Provide support to the Annual Giving and Memberships team through membership records maintenance and processing.
- Work collaboratively with other departments on processing and ticketing needs in the Tessitura database.

**What you will bring**:

- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in database administration and data management required
- Highschool Diploma or it’s equivalence. A certificate in Database Administration is an asset.
- Experience working with non-profit databases is an asset
- Demonstrated understanding of the fund development process
- Good understanding of privacy legislation and safeguarding donor data
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Strong knowledge in a variety of computer programs including Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate professionally, effectively, and discreetly with colleagues, donors, volunteers and other zoo staff

**Working Conditions**:

- Sitting at a desk, using a personal computer for long periods of time.
- On grounds mobility.
- Flexible work hours, which may occasionally include evenings and weekends.

The Wilder Institute/Calgary Zoo is an outdoor facility and all staff must be comfortable working in a large variety of outdoor conditions. The Wilder Institute/Calgary Zoo follows the advice of Environment Canada when responding to temperature and air quality issues.
