**Duties and Responsibilities**:
The HPC is responsible for the planning, implementation, coordination and evaluation of programs based on the social determinants of health that engage the campus student community in maintaining their health and wellness. The incumbent promotes health in the best interest of students while professionally representing Student health and wellness services. The HPC provides leadership and support to the Student Health Promotion Team consisting of paid student part-time and volunteer positions. The HPC is responsible for developing programming on a number of health topic areas such as sexual health, drugs/alcohol, mental health, nutrition, smoking cessation, sleep and physical activity. The incumbent is also responsible for coordinating information on the wellness website and providing customer service, event planning and delivery, presentations and workshops, and social media and website administration in addition to their health promotion activities.

**Qualifications**:
**The incumbent must possess the following qualifications**:

- Ability to provide knowledge and problem solving skills in analyzing health promotion needs of young adults, particularly post-secondary students. Supervisory experience required to effectively organize, train, and motivate student staff and volunteers.
- Computer skills: Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher), Search Engines, Social Media Tools - Facebook, Twitter, Instagram.
- Experience with creating presentation tools, Web CMS - WordPress, Graphic Design (Adobe Suite) considered an asset.
- Demonstrate strong communication skills and ability to develop understanding/ unbiased rapport with students with multicultural diversity and varying beliefs in the significance of differing health practices.
- Understanding of the unique health barriers and stresses experienced by students in post-secondary education.
- Demonstrate strong work ethic, organizational and time management skills.
- Strong initiative to work creatively and independently - continually creating novel health campaign material for promotion on various health topics.
- Knowledge to conceptualize health promotion in the context of higher education.
- Knowledge of health promotion, behavior change, population-based theories and models, environmental management strategies/socio-ecological model, and health promotions/initiatives.
- Demonstrate skills in gathering, compiling, and synthesizing information to develop health promotion initiatives and educational materials for a diverse group of students.
- Demonstrate skills in a variety of educational methods including presentations, workshops, trainings, individual behavior change sessions, and small group discussion/facilitation.
- Ability to critically review health-related professional literature relevant to students and assess its applicability and utility for effectiveness on a particular campus.
- Written/oral/interpersonal communication skills.
- Demonstrate willingness and flexibility to acquire knowledge and develop expertise in a variety of key health issues based on needs assessment results.

**Education and Experience**:
**The above is normally acquired through the completion of**:

- Completion of an Honour’s degree in a relevant field. Most relevant degree areas include health science, public health, health promotion, healthy policy and health education. Degrees in other fields may be considered with evidence of sufficient university level coursework and/or professional experience in the areas listed above.
