**The University Health Network's Laboratory Medicine Program (LMP)** impacts nearly every patient that goes through** Toronto General, Toronto Western, Toronto Rehab, and Princess Margaret Hospitals**. Our clinical laboratory services provide physicians with the necessary information to effectively diagnose and treat patients, ultimately saving lives. We are the largest hospital diagnostic lab in Canada and one of the largest academic labs in the world. We've approached pathology and clinical testing with an early adopter attitude, taking advantage of technological advancements and progressing with changes in global healthcare.
LMP is seeking a **Clinical Research Coordinator I** to facilitate approvals for research studies, assist in the research of our pathologists, and support the research agenda for the department as a whole.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Process new study submissions and obtain approvals through UHN’s online process, handle queries, process study renewals
- Advertise and coordinate competitions for small grants, innovation funds and summer student program
- Coordinate and manage all aspects of the LMP-Wide Research Committee meetings and support initiatives by the LMP Research
- Committee aimed at enhancing the research environment in LMP
- Retrieve tissue blocks for research studies at LMP, when necessary
- Liaise with other LMP members that retrieve blocks/ slide s, setting priorities and time lines
- Assist LMP communications with bibliometric and grant information for all members of LMP for annual report
- Liaise with LMP Communications to announce grant agencies and highlight upcoming grants to staff
- Prepare and deliver presentations regarding research at LMP, as appropriate
- Other duties as assigned, commensurate with the job
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum Bachelor's degree in biomedical or related life sciences or similar, or three (3) years clinical and/or professional experience and up to one (1) year clinical research experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- MSc or higher with clinical research experience considered an asset
- Demonstrated relevant clinical research knowledge
- Ability to set priorities and work independently with accuracy in a dynamic environment
- Ability to work independently and well with people from various disciplines
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks
- Knowledge of electronic health records, medical terminology an asset
- Knowledge of research principles, research regulations (ICH/GCP) and guidelines
- Knowledge of applicable legislative, UHN and/or departmental policies
- Experience in patient screening, recruitment, consenting an asset
- Experience with statistical analysis and protocol/grant writing an asset
