**Location** - Work takes place on North Campus, Edmonton. This role is in person. Weekend work is required.

**Position Summary**

The Room Readiness Unit of Facility Services, Campus Services, provides custodial services for Residence guests, staff and visitors.

Reporting to the Housekeeping Supervisor, the Housing Worker provides cleaning, housekeeping and motel/hotel services for students in residence, University Summer Conference guests.

**Duties**

Housekeeping - to clean residence units, guest units and common areas.
- Removal of garbage from common areas and washrooms, floors, etc.
- Provides cleaning and maintenance to hard floor and carpeted surfaces
- Vacuums and cleans all surfaces of hallways, stairwells, lounges, walls, furniture, etc.
- Clean and sanitize washrooms, common areas, kitchens, appliances, etc.
- Cleans vacated student residence rooms as required
- Provides hotel/motel service during the Spring/Summer season; which includes guest suites, and dorm rooms on a daily basis.
- Clean guest rooms on a daily basis (Level 1 of the APPA Standards).
- Respond to guest requests (extra towels, extra linen due to illness, etc.).
- Perform annual deep cleaning of all bedrooms, washrooms and common areas (requires lifting, furniture moving, bending, reaching etc.).
- In the central laundry, as time permits
- Wash and fold bed linen, blankets and towels.
- Wash and pleat residence drapes.

Maintenance Duties
- Furniture set-up.
- Snow removal in front of entrance doors.
- Flood clean-up.
- Clean up vandalism.
- Report broken equipment, damage to property, vandalism, graffiti, etc.
- Perform heavy lifting and moving, such as rearranging furniture, moving furniture for deep cleaning, etc.
- Request supplies for individual areas.
- Report safety issues that the students are not addressing or correcting.

**Minimum Qualifications**
- Minimum grade 10; High School Diploma preferred

**Preferred Qualifications**
- Strong knowledge and experience in cleaning chemicals, stain removal, floor care and equipment
- Previous experience in a related custodial field
- Minimum 2 years of experience in floor care and equipment which includes carpet extraction, stain removal, buffing, stripping, waxing, ect.
- Completion of WHIMS, Biohazard Clean Up, and Safety and Fire Extinguisher training preferred
- Ability to work independently and in direct contact with a variety of customers
