Working to promote Bethesda’s Vision Mission and Values and quality client care, the Supported Independent Living program requires two (2) Part-Time Supported Independent Living Developmental Support Workers (up to 60 hours bi-weekly) to support numerous individuals living throughout the Niagara Region. This position will be scheduled based on individual requirements and must be available to work all hours.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

- Provide individual life skills based on Individual Support Plans
- Household management
- Grocery shopping and food preparation
- Personal hygiene
- Money management
- Socialization and recreational activities
- Education/training support
- Employment support
- Role modeling
- Relationship counseling
- Liaise with community service providers
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with developmental disabilities service providers and other community resources
- Advocate for clients to access needed services
- Exercise appropriate personal and professional behavior
- Adhere to professional and ethical standards and abides by applicable legislation
- Identify individual professional developmental needs to the Manager in order to ensure that performance is maximized

**QUALIFICATIONS**
- Developmental Services Worker diploma or related degree/diploma is preferred
- Minimum of two years’ previous experience working with people with developmental disabilities
- Thorough knowledge of developmentally disabled adults and their associated support community
- Ability to work effectively and communicate with individuals, families and groups
- Ability to set priorities and use time effectively
- Ability to work independently and in a multi-disciplinary team
- First Aid/CPR and Safety Care Certification
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Valid driver’s license and ability to supply own car with appropriate insurance
