We have an immediate position available for a **Heavy Equipment Operator **at our **Ottawa Landfill **in **Navan, ON**.

**Summary**: Under general supervision, the Equipment Operator operates various equipment including; dozers (D6 size), excavators, backhoes, front end loaders, dump trucks, and trash trucks.

**Location**: 3354 Navan Rd Ottawa, ON K4B 1H9
**Pay rate**: $31.77 per hour

**Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Operates dozers,
- Operates backhoe, loaders and excavators as required.
- Operates forklifts and dump trucks to transport trash and materials.
- Operates various equipment for general site preparation, landscaping, snow removal, and related assignments.
- Performs routine inspection and maintenance on equipment such as checking oil, coolant, and tires.
- Promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
- Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
- Occasional weekends when needed.

**Minimum Job Requirements**:

- High school diploma or GED; at least 5 years of experience that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
- Heavy Equipment Operator, 5-7 yrs minimum experience required.
- Must be able to pass all pre-employment tests.

**Working Conditions And Physical Effort**:

- Work involves almost constant exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures,, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, and/or loud noises.
- Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.
- Ability to operate heavy equipment.
- Knowledge of light and heavy equipment operation and maintenance.
- Knowledge of basic vehicle inspection and maintenance including tire pressure, undercarriage, checking all fluid levels.
- Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures.
