**General Accountability**:

- Reporting to the Manager - Technical Support Services, the incumbent will provide technical direction, direct supervision and general administration for the technical support functions within the section. Assists with the supervision and leadership of the section. This involves project management activities, administrative duties, program development, ensuring subordinates are properly trained, along with other responsibilities as necessary. Supervises day-to-day activities related to the work in the section. Will perform related duties as assigned.**Key Job Functions**:

- Performing long-range planning for maintenance processes and standard practices to meet the Bus Maintenance Department’s future needs and objectives as well as the requirements of various regulatory and legislative bodies;
- Performing failure analysis studies in order to determine the cause of failure and providing solutions through modification, retrofit or revised work methods;
- Plan, coordinate, and generally supervise work and staff in the section.
- Create plans and procedures to identify work needed (i.e., to identify all warrantable repairs and the associated work) and implement.
- Plan, organize, supervise, and direct the activities relating to work or project; and make recommendations regarding adjustments to work as needed.
- Address environmental, safety, and other compliance issues related to operations in the Department or Section.
- Review and analyze data, information, procedures, or other methods; make recommendations and/or document as necessary.
- Review systems, processes, and/or documents (e.g., procedures, reports, contracts) to ensure work is conducted up to standard and in the best interests of the TTC.
- Develop and administer standards to ensure efficiency, quality of work, safety, and effective performance.
- Prepare, monitor, and update Capital and Operating budgets, goals, and objectives.
- Promotes a respectful work and service environment that supports diversity, inclusion, and is free from harassment and discrimination. Provides leadership in the development and implementation of inclusive and accessible policies, programs and/or services for employees and customers in accordance with TTC’s commitments and obligations under the Ontario Human Rights Code (OHRC) and Related Orders, the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA), and TTC’s policies.

**Education and Experience**:

- Completion of a post-secondary college diploma or university degree in a related discipline or a combination of education, training and experience deemed to be equivalent.
- Certificate of Qualification as a Truck and Coach Technician (310-T), Automotive Service Technician (310-S), or Auto Body & Collision Damage Repairer (310-B) are considered assets.
- Registration as a Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario (PEO) is considered an asset.
- OACETT Engineering Technologist certification is an asset.

- Ensure sufficient buses, non-revenue vehicles and equipment are available, in a safe and reliable condition, to allow other Departments to meet revenue service, related transit revenue operation and non-revenue support activities
- Ensure operational efficiency, employee training, effective labour relations, workplace safety, regulatory and legislative compliance and budgetary and financial effectiveness
