**How You Will Make an Impact**

The Dorothy Day Place provides low-barrier permanent supportive housing to cis women, trans and non-binary individuals who have experienced chronic homelessness in the community. The program will offer a hospitable and respectful environment for people who face significant personal and structural barriers to accessing and maintaining housing. Commitment to the provision of cultural safety and Trans/Gender positive space is prioritized. The Dorothy Day Place operates within a trauma-informed, feminist, anti-racist/anti-oppressive framework and firmly rooted in harm reduction principles.

The Cook / Housekeeper enhances the dignity and quality of life of our clients through the assumed responsibility for housekeeping and food preparation services in accordance with the Role Description, particularly by ensuring the overall cleanliness and respectful appearance of the facility, maintaining adequate supplies for housekeeping and meal preparation, as well as providing healthy meals. Hospitality and availability is aided by providing an environment that is welcoming and hospitable to clients. The incumbent must also be able to demonstrate flexibility in the carrying out of her work in response to client and organizational needs and must be able to adapt to the changing needs of a diversity of clients accessing service. The Cook/Housekeeper enhances the dignity and quality of life of our participants through the assumed responsibility for hospitality services by ensuring the overall cleanliness and respectful appearance of the facility and the provision of nutritious meals.
- Cooking/preparing 3X meals a day for up to 75 residents, meal planning, serving meals to residents, cleaning and sanitization of kitchen, appliance
- Ensure adherence to occupational health and safety regulations, corporate and program policy
- Hospitality and availability are aided by providing an environment that is welcoming and dignified
- Must also be able to demonstrate flexibility in the carrying out of work in response to participant and organizational needs and must be able to adapt to a fast-paced environment

**What You Will Bring to Our Team**
- High school diploma and previous cooking experience required
- Cooking in a residential or commercial kitchen with menu planning is preferred
- Experience in inventory management is an asset
- Experience in the food serving industry is an asset
- Applicants should possess an appreciation and understanding of a range of issues impacting individuals including abuse, poverty, homelessness, mental health and substance use
- Food Handlers certification is an asset
