**GENERAL FUNCTION**:
The Health & Safety (H&S) Advisor will assist in research, development, and implementation of strategic local and national H&S programs, policies, processes, standards, and procedures to ensure that Corrosion Service Company Limited (CSCL) is in compliance.
The H&S Advisor will ensure total compliance with all applicable Provincial H&S legislation, regulation, codes, as well as standards and best practices through implementation of CSCL's existing H&S Program while providing feedback and recommendations in support of our continuous improvement mandate.
The H&S Advisor will support Operations activities in relation to H&S deliverables including providing project specific documentation, project inspections and support, completing branch level H&S oversight/meetings, participating in branch level orientations, and completion of/participation in regional safety audits.
The position requires travel to various project sites throughout the year to complete H&S compliance audits and will be required to travel 35% of the time.
- Assist National H&S Manager to ensure that CSCL meets and maintains health& safety compliance with CSCL clients through a third-party Safety Compliance and Pre-qualification companies such as ISNetworld, CanOual, Avetta, CompyWorks and participate in development of training, audits, investigations, policy reviews, etc.
- This role will assume responsibility for proactive safety business strategy with a focus on accident prevention, hazard identification, training, client requirement compliance, client, and government external auditors audit success.
- This role provides support, guidance, and consultation to the Operations team and National H&S Manager for the management and execution of H&S initiatives that facilitate a healthy, safe and supportive environment.
- Support development and implement comprehensive and a standardized Occupational H&S Management System (OHSMS) designed to prevent injuries, comply with all applicable legislation, standards, and client requirements.
- Support research and development of management programs, policies, processes and procedures in line with all Canadian Provincial legislation, regulation, code, client requirements and best practices.
- Collaborate with branch and divisional managers and workers in implementation and execution of core programs Company wide.
- Conduct periodic evaluation to ensure program implementation and maintenance through internal audit system, program and process review and continues improvement initiatives.
- Develop H&S Plans and Emergency Response Plans as requested by Operations.
- Assist in the management of the ‘Safety Inbox’, ensuring all deliverables are assigned and completed.
- Participate in review, update, and revisions of all existing OHSMS programs and policies as necessary to ensure compliance with legislation and client requirement for CSCL over time.
- Assist with initiatives such as Risk Assessment, JHA, BBS, SWP, FLRA, workplace inspection and work site inspection to identify hazards and unsafe work practices and make recommendation to address those hazards.
- Assist National H&S Manager with incident and accident investigations, determine root cause and make recommendations for preventive actions.
- Provide consultative guidance and interpretation of legislation and regulatory requirement to operation teams on H&S priorities, risk, associated costs, impacts and performance.
- Contribute and enter H&S Key Performance Indicators to track and measure H&S performance in maintaining training data matrix and training certificates database.
