**The Opportunity**
The Clinician and Mental Health Coordinator position is responsible for developing and implementing the mental health component of Toba Centre service delivery in order to better meet the needs of children, youth, and families impacted by abuse in a trauma-informed way. The incumbent also provides brief clinical services to non-offending caregivers, identifies and facilitates joint training/professional development opportunities, facilitates a reflective consultation group, and contributes to the development and implementation of tools and resources that will enhance access to services and/or better support children, youth and non-offending family members impacted by abuse.
The Clinician and Mental Health Coordinator engages in tasks and activities that support and facilitate a multidisciplinary team approach to child abuse investigations. They are a member of a collaborative team of professionals that works to reduce trauma and promote healing for child/youth victims and non-offending family members.
**The Qualifications**
This position requires a post-secondary degree in a relevant discipline such as social work, psychology, or related field from an accredited academic institution and 3 to 5 years of relevant experience; a graduate degree is preferred.
- Comprehensive knowledge and clinical experience with therapy models and interventions that best support brief crisis response/intervention, short term and longer-term counselling
- 3 - 5 years supervised clinical counselling experience, preferably with children and families who have experienced trauma from abuse
- Demonstrated experience in group facilitation
- A thorough knowledge and understanding of the trauma-informed therapeutic/counselling process
- Ability to assess risk in the following areas: Posttraumatic stress, victims of violence, domestic abuse, addiction, mental health, child welfare, human trafficking, and sexual assault
- Understanding of empowerment based, trauma
- informed practices and principles
- 3 - 5 years’ experience in service coordination, project coordination, and/or community development
- Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills and analytical skills and ability to manage multiple tasks, effectively prioritize, and ensure follow through.
- Fluency in French and English would be considered an asset.
