Under the general supervision of the Manager, Human Resources, the Human Resources Officer provides human resources service and support to all levels of staff in the organization.

**MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES**:
1. Provides human resources services in relation to staffing, compensation, benefits, health and safety, performance management, and labour relations issues as required.

2. Facilitates the recruitment and selection processes, attends, and participates on hiring teams as required.

3. Participates in the completion of departmental projects and/or training initiatives as required.

4. Conducts research and compiles related reports as required, including matters relating to labour relations, compensation and HRIS reports.

5. Completes staff sign on, general orientation and maintains employee records.

6. Maintains an up-to-date knowledge of human resources related legislation and practices.

7. Performs such other related duties as may be assigned.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:
**Education/Experience**
- College diploma in human resource management or a related discipline.
- A minimum of two years of human resources generalist experience including recruitment and selection.

**Skills/Abilities**
- Superior interpersonal skills.
- Problem solving abilities and analytical skills.
- Ability to demonstrate initiative.
- Demonstrated ability to function as an effective team member.
- Superior written and oral communication skills.
- Intermediate skill level in spreadsheet software.
- Basic skill level in word processing software.

**CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT**:

- Must undergo a successful police records check, Type 2.
- Use of a vehicle may be required.
- Travel may be required.
- May be required to work irregular hours.
- Must maintain confidentiality.
