Greely, Canada Fortran Steel Contracting Ltd Full time

Fortran Steel Contracting is a Structural Steel and Miscellaneous Metals fabrication shop looking to hire an experienced Estimator to join our team. The role of the Estimator is to help prepare initial cost estimates for the required supplies and services, create a pricing schedule, develop bid proposals, and review the technical aspects of the projects.

**Responsibilities (But not limited to)**:

- Required to communicate with Project Managers, Site Supervisors, and Erectors/Sub-Contractors
- Track and review all documents for projects (ie: submittals, costs, RFI’s, scheduling, site inspections, ect.)
- Attend job showings for estimating purposes
- Estimation of new or current jobs (changes to scope)
- Prepare steel estimate/quotes of probable cost of materials, labour, and equipment for projects or quotes based on contract bids, quotations, schematic drawings and specifications
- Periodically act as planner on smaller scope projects, including assisting with all estimating, project coordination efforts and interacting with key leadership and the client
- Review Safety requirements, solicit supplier and subcontractors, prepare quantity surveys, and prepare preliminary schedule
- Prepare labour hour calculations and crew durations for costing
- Puts together quantity take-offs for costing as well for tendering budgetary pricing
- Gives inputs for steel scope changes estimates/quotes
- Review bonding and insurance requirements
- Attended any meetings including pre-tender, bid-strategy, contract review, pricing review, and subcontractor scope review meetings**Qualifications**:

- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in Structural Steel and Construction Industry.
- Vast knowledge of construction structures, materials, and processes.
- Understanding and Knowledge of steel erection and installation.
- Understanding and knowledge of Structural, Architectural and Customer blueprint drawings.
- Experience with Construction Management.
- Familiar with the Ontario Building Code. CISC, CWB Standards, and CSA Standards
- Must be able to work with tight deadlines and under pressure.

Experience will reflect the salary amount and will be discussed at time of interview

**Salary**: From $65,000.00 per year
