At Community Care Durham, coordinated networks of volunteers and inter-professional staff, working out of integrated community hubs and other locations, strive to enrich the well-being and quality of life for people who choose to live at home. As the largest community support services agency in Durham Region, CCD collaborates with its partners and the broader community to address community issues and support local citizens to achieve their goals to live independently.
Reporting to the Manager, Food Services, the Supervisor, Food Services, oversees the Meals on Wheels, Community Food Box, and Mobile Food Market programs in all of Community Care Durham’s locations. The Supervisor, Food Services, is responsible for leading staff and volunteers, planning, implementing, and evaluating service operations, including updating policies and procedures within CCD’s policy guidelines.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Leads team building initiatives and fosters collaboration among the CCD Workforce;
- Conducts supervisory visits and meets regularly with each Food Services team;
- Follows up promptly with clients, care partners, and volunteers to address and resolve escalated complaints and concerns;
- Ensures the effective and efficient delivery of Food Program services, including Meals on Wheels, Community Food Box, and Mobile Food Market, to meet community needs;
- Monitors targets and collaborates with the Manager to implement practices that ensure MSSA goals are met;
- Provides leadership and support to staff as part of Supervisor on Call rotation (weekends and holidays as needed) and communicates incidents/situations with appropriate staff as needed;
- Prepares monthly program reports for service performance;
- Provides on-going training, support, and mentoring to staff in all programs while conducting performance management as necessary;
- Participates in Food Services budget discussions;
- Processes financial information for month end including submitting program invoices and reconciliation;
- Collaborates to identify supplies and equipment needed for frontline staff to deliver effective services;
- Participates in the development of procedures, guidelines, and practices for implementation.
**Qualifications required**:
- Post secondary education in Culinary Arts, Food and Nutrition, Social Services, or relevant field
- Minimum three (3) years supervisory experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Knowledge of non-profit administration, volunteer and staff management;
- Understanding of food insecurity is an asset
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Share Point, etc)
- Sensitivity to the needs of the vulnerable population with disabilities, including challenges in cognition
- Satisfactory Police Vulnerable Sector Check
- Must work in a safe manner and promote the health and safety of all staff, volunteers, clients and the community as outlined within CCD policies
**Compensation**:Starting at $58,000 annually; three (3) weeks’ vacation per year of work (pro-rated to hours worked); 9 paid (including stat) holidays, float days; health, insurance, and pension benefits when eligible.
