**Position Summary**

The main purpose of the Kanien’kehá:ka Curriculum Consultant role is support and consult all schools of the KEC in the ongoing growth, implementation and review of the nursery-11 Tsi Niionkwarihò:ten curriculum. In collaboration with the KEC Curriculum Team, the consultant assesses the curriculum and essential learning outcomes to ensure a cohesive program from nursery to Grade 11, aligned with the KEC Tsi Niionkwarihò:ten Education Program.** Responsibilities**

**Responsibility 1: Tsi Niionkwarihò:ten Curriculum (50%)**
- To ensure the curriculum and programs are reflective of the philosophy, mission and goals of the Kahnawà:ke Education Center.
- To ensure the implementation of the KEC Tsi Niionkwarihò:ten Curriculum framework as well as support the growth of existing and new KEC curriculum.
- To identify, develop and support the implementation of curriculum for the exploratory and elective courses at the Kahnawake Survival School.
- To update the course descriptions, essential learning outcomes (ELOs), and assessments for the exploratory and elective courses at the Kahnawake Survival School in collaboration with identified staff.
- To provide cultural support and mentorship to teachers by sharing and modeling sound pedagogical practices in alignment with Haudenosaunee cultural learning approaches.
- To support the implementation and growth of the Ionkhi’nihsténha Ionkhirihonnién:ni (land based learning) program at Karonhianónhnha Tsi Ionterihwaienstáhkhwa.
- To identify and engage community knowledge holders to support the development and implementation of cultural programs and curriculum in all KEC schools.
- To identify, establish, prepare and catalogue culturally aligned instructional materials and resources that enhance Tsi Niionkwarihò:ten cultural program.
- To consult with the Curriculum Team Coordinator on all matters related to curriculum, education projects, programs, etc.

**Responsibility 2: Assessments and Measurements (25%)**
- To develop culturally relevant assessment tools that take into account the holistic development of the student.
- To determine, implement, and monitor the impacts of cultural programs and content on students success.
- To contribute to the completion of curriculum related projects, reports and assessments within assigned time frames.
- To review, revise, support and implement assessment measures within the exploratory and elective courses at the Kahnawà:ke Survival School.

**Responsibility 3: Collaboration (25%)**
- To provide mentorship and support to teachers for the implementation of culturally relevant pedagogies.
- To work in partnership with interdisciplinary teams comprised of school representatives, coordinators, consultants, etc. in order to support school goals and implementation of the Skátne Enionkwaió’ten Community Language Plan and Karonhianónhnha’s Ionkhi’nihsténha Ionkhirihonnién:ni Program.
- Collaborate with curriculum consultants to ensure consistency across disciplines.
- To collaborate with external and community organizations when necessary and in relation to curriculum planning.
- To perform any other non-recurrent job related duties as required by the immediate supervisor.

- Expertise in curriculum development, evaluation and planning is required.
- Expertise in developing educational programming rooted in Indigenous pedagogy and Haudenosaunee culture, teachings and worldview.
- Superior oral and written communication skills in English in addition to advanced Kanien’kéha proficiency.
- Creative and innovative.

**Education, Knowledge & Experience**
- Master’s Degree in Curriculum Development OR Bachelor’s Degree in Education with five (5) years’ experience in Curriculum development
- Strong knowledge and understanding of Haudenosaunee foundational teachings and world view
- Strong knowledge and comprehension of the pedagogical direction of the Kahnawà:ke Education System
- Solid working knowledge of MS Office and Google suite of products
- General knowledge of cultural norms, traditions and expectations of students and families
