**Position Summary**
**Key Responsibilities**
**Responsibility 1: Managing the Education Program (60%)**
- To develop, implement and evaluate the school’s mission, goals and program objectives.
- To guide the Professional Learning Community in a process to achieve student success.
- To establish the annual master schedule for instructional programs.
- To ensure sequential learning experiences for students.
- To supervise the instructional programs of the school, evaluating lesson plans and observing classes based on established processes.
- To encourage the use of a variety of instructional strategies and materials consistent with research on learning and child and adolescent growth and development.
- To coordinate and facilitate all school FNEC (First Nations Education Council) Programs in collaboration with the Associate Director.
- To conduct final review of term student reports.
**Responsibility 2: Managing Learning and Teaching (20%)**
- To establish and promote high standards and expectations for all students and staff.
- To establish a professional rapport with students and with staff, and ensure they are supervised in a safe, fair and consistent manner.
- To develop and implement with staff, parents and community organizations a balanced educational, cultural and recreational student activities program.
- To monitor the health, safety and well-being of all students in the school and collaborate with outside agencies as needed.
- To support both students and teachers to achieve their greatest potential academically, instructionally and spiritually.
**Responsibility 3: Managing Performance and General Functioning of the Organization (20%)**
- To supervise, guide, mentor and support all direct reports on regular basis.
- To conduct performance appraisals of all direct reports in a timely manner.
- To keep the staff informed and seek ideas for the improvement in line with the school’s values and vision.
- To participate in the general administration of the Kahnawà:ke school system and complete in a timely manner required reports and all other paperwork for appropriate personnel.
- To oversee school budgets and prioritize fiscal needs based on those budgets.
- To recruit, retain and deploy staff appropriately and assist in managing their workload to achieve the vision and goals of the school.
- To manage and organize the school environment efficiently and effectively to ensure that it meets the needs of the curriculum and health and safety regulations.
- To ensure school and system policies and procedures are implemented and adhered to for the effective operations of the school.

**Education, Knowledge & Experience**
- Bachelor’s degree in Education with a minimum of 5 years teaching experience and relevant school administration experience
- Special Education training and experience an asset
- Administration experience an asset and/or willing to enroll in Educational Leadership training
- Knowledge of the Kanien’kehá:ka culture, and socio-economic issues
- Knowledge of school curriculum, procedures, standards, programs, resources, and facilities
- Knowledge of effective student management techniques, including crisis management, conflict resolution and peer mediation
- Complete proficiency in English language
- Kanien’kéha and French fluency an asset
**Working Conditions**
- Occasional travels and overtime required
