The Faculty—comprised of approximately 2,200 administrative support, technical/research and management and professional staff, as well approximately 650 full-time academic and over 10,000 clinical faculty members—is composed of 19 academic basic science and/or clinical departments, 3 schools, and 25 research centres and institutes. Together with its University and Health Authority partners, the Faculty delivers innovative programs and conducts research in the areas of health and life sciences. Faculty, staff and trainees are located at university campuses, clinical academic campuses in hospital settings and other regionally based centres across the province.

The UBC Vancouver Campus is located on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territory of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam) people. The City of Vancouver is located on Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh First Nations territory.

Work Performed

Specific Duties:

- Manages administration of the planning, implementation and close-out activities for cybersecurity initiatives, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
- Conducts analysis and research. Utilizes Subject Matter Experts (SME) and consults leadership to solicit, understand and capture relevant information to prepare project management documentation for the Faculty of Medicine’s Information Security Program.
- Initiates and manages projects with the leadership and/or management team on project management methodology including but not limited to gathering data, conducting research, and defining project requirements, developing project scope, charters, plans, budgets and schedules, identifying staffing requirements, forming project teams, and supporting cross-functional work and project management processes between portfolios, to ensure success.
- Identify and assess potential project risks, proposing mitigation strategies to ensure project success.
- Develops and implements internal communication tools and business processes for use between team members to keep them informed of business directions, project status, scope changes, and milestone achievements.
- Determines the project management methodology or methodologies that would be most appropriate for the project and identifies organizational change strategies
- Presents comprehensive project plans and proposals to various stakeholder groups. Organizes presentations to the wider Faculty of Medicine community, which may include lunch & learn, training sessions, and general update presentations.
- Collaborates with project teams to synchronize project management activities among distributed IT teams, Privacy and Information Security, external clients, vendors, and other organizational units.
