**Maintenance Supervisor**

The Waterloo Catholic District School Board serves over 38,000 learners and provides services to students in 50 schools (Kindergarten to Grade 12 and adult learners) across the Waterloo Region.

**General Description of Duties**:
Reporting to the Senior Manager of Facility Services, the Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for the overall supervision and coordination of the Maintenance Services division. This position requires an individual who has demonstrated skills in leadership, communication, initiative and innovation.

The duties of the position will include, but are not limited to:

- Responsible for the implementation of a Service Quality System for Maintenance Services division including establishing and maintaining standard operating procedures, manuals, training programs, inspection/record keeping and customer satisfaction surveys;
- Manage all internal union maintenance staff, including all trades, and labour positions (approx 35 people)
- Participate in ongoing Health and Safety including implementation of corrective action.
- Investigate, process and assignment of work orders to internal maintenance staff or external contractors, on-site supervision of work crews and liaison with school staff. Manage EBASE work order module.
- Responsible for reviewing Building Systems Operations, maintenance and regulatory compliance i.e. mechanical, electrical, fire alarm systems, elevators, plumbing etc;
- Establish procedures to identify and respond to maintenance and safety concerns;
- Establish preventative maintenance procedures to ensure that building infrastructure and systems have been maintained in a pro-active fashion;
- Assist in the development of the annual maintenance budget;
- Participate and assist with construction department with identifying renewal projects, standards and specifications for new school projects. Work closely with construction to ensure continuity between departments.
- Participate in staff selection process, and in the grievance and disciplinary process;
- Coordinate the accurate and efficient collection of facilities maintenance data for Ministry reporting;
- In conjunction with the Service Quality System - Facility Operations Supervisor, coordinate professional development activities for maintenance and custodial staff;
- Participation in a rotation “on call” schedule.

**M**inimum Requirements**:

- College Diploma in environmental/mechanical studies focusing on building systems or related discipline or
- Certified trade license in Electrical, mechanical, or HVAC or
- Three (3) to five (5) years of maintenance supervisory experience in an institutional environment, or a combination of construction and facility management experience, preferably in a public sector, unionized environment;
- Experience with building automation systems with particular emphasis on mechanical systems and related electronic controls;
- Working knowledge of current relevant legislation and statutory requirements such as: the Occupational Health & Safety Act, Ontario Building Code, Ontario Fire codes and codes under the authority of the Technical Standards and Safety Authority and Electrical Safety Authority;
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills, including report writing and presentation skills.

**Salary Range**:PASS - Level 8: $83,372 - $98,089 per year in accordance with the PASS Terms of Employment

**Hours of Work**: Permenant full-time: 35 hours per week / 52 weeks per year
