**The Job - Water Damage Technician**

At On Side, Water Damage Technicians (WDTs) go wherever a burst pipe, blocked drain, sewer backup (yes, sometimes it’s one of those situations) or other water-related disaster calls. Understanding the urgency of the situation and working with customers in a caring, calm and empathetic manner are paramount to the success of a WDTs day Working as a team, WDTs mop up the mess to ensure everything is shipshape and ready to get back to the pre-disaster state.

**What you bring**:
A WDT brings a bunch of abilities to their work, the most important being a ‘get it done’ attitude. Additional abilities include:

- 2+ years' experience working as a building restoration technician
- Experience with all drying tools (fans, negative air units, pressure drying systems, floor drying systems, dehumidifiers)
- Disasters can strike at any time so need to be available for a rotating On Call schedule after hours + occasional weekends
- Mechanical aptitude— you can look at something and just know how it works
- Detail oriented and curious
- Leadership - experience in leading teams
- Committed to the standards and guidelines for restoration professionals (IICRCS500-1000)
- Ability to carry out structural drainage assessments in accordance with IICRC guidelines
- Knowledge of structural drying procedures for buildings
- Ability to carry out structural drying assessments on multiple units
- Organized with a good sense of time— you’re rarely late and know where all your tools are
- Organized and time-conscious - you're rarely late and know where all your tools are.

- Friendly and a team player
- Ability to meet On Side's criminal record check requirements.
- Ability to communicate in French (English an asset)

Past industry experience that can translate into success as a WDT includes: Water Damage Tech, Restoration Tech, Demolition Tech, Demolition Supervisor.

**Other stuff that will contribute to your success but isn’t required**:

- IICRC Water Damage Technician Certification (if you don’t have this, we’ll help you get it)

- Do you have 2+ years' experience working as a Restoration Technician?
- What were your tasks/responsibilities while previously working as a Restoration Technician?
- Are you able to work a Rotating On-Call Schedule? This is additional to scheduled daytime hours.
- Do you have a valid driver's license?
- Are you comfortable driving a cube van around the city and parking in residential streets?
- Do you have experience with drying tools (air movers, negative air machines, pressurized drying systems, floor drying systems, dehumidifiers)?
- Are you physically fit and can be in tight spaces?
- Are you capable of: Frequent lifting from 5-40 lbs, unassisted (from 35-65% of the time) - Occasional lifting from 41 lbs +, assisted (up to 50% of the time)
- Are you fluent reading / writing/ speaking English? If no, please rank your skills out of 10 (1 is basic, 10 is fluent)
- Do you have a valid IICRC certificate? (not required)
