As a key member of the Recreation Department, the **RECREATION ASSISTANT** will provide **therapeutic recreation** **programs to meet the needs of the Residents of our long-term care facility, by providing innovative, therapeutic and stimulating programs that support the Resident's comfort, independence and control. This will include; needs assessments, planning, implementing, evaluating and documenting various programs and activities.

The Recreation Assistant will specialize in working with Resident's with cognitive impairments, such as dementia and Alzheimer's. The therapeutic interventions must be meaningful and assist with responsive behaviors.

You will be expected to represent Shepherd Village courteously and professionally while maintaining amicable relationships with peers, subordinates, Residents & families in keeping with the Shepherd Village Mission, Vision & Values.
- Degree or Diploma in Therapeutic Recreation from a community college or university, **_required_**Minimum three (3) years experience working in a Recreation setting, **_required_**Demonstrated experience in designing, planning, executing and evaluating recreational activities and therapeutic programs for Seniors.
Ability to initiate new, creative and innovative programming ideas
Excellent oral and written communication skills in English language are required.
Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
Ability to take initiative, work independently, or in a cooperative team environment
Positive attitude, compassionate and energetic personality to represent Shepherd Village professionally and positively.

Availability:
This position has an anticipated 12:00pm - 8:00pm schedule availability on an FT basis.
