More information on Beachville and Beachville District Museum:
Beachville is situated in the Thames River Valley between Ingersoll and Woodstock, just thirty (30) minutes east of London. The village originally developed around the limestone industry and the railroad, and became a central hub of Oxford County.
Beachville District Museum is supported through a joint funding agreement between Zorra Township, South-West Oxford Township and Beachville District Historical Society. It was formed as "Ye Olde Museum" in the village's Anglican Church in 1975, opening at its current location (in the Downing family home) in April of 1992. The main museum building is made of fieldstone and limestone and dates to 1851. It is surrounded by a lush, 4.5 acre, park-like setting. Museum exhibits occupy two storeys of the building and two barns in the museum's agricultural complex.
