**Payroll Operations Manager**
Reporting to the Director, HR Operations - HR Shared Services, the Manager, Payroll Operations will lead a team of HR Payroll Coordinators and Payroll Analysts who are responsible for the accurate and timely processing of payroll to employees and business stakeholders in a unionized environment. The Manager is also responsible for overseeing the work of the HR Payroll Coordinators and Payroll Analysts in responding to internal and external requests related to payroll. Through the team and through individual contributions, the Manager will drive the development and deployment of standard and
_ad hoc_ processes and ensure the proper controls are in place. The Manager, Payroll Operations will work in collaboration with the team to support business changes, process improvements and technology upgrade projects impacting HR Shared Services
This position will be located at our Head Office in Markham, Ontario and will have flexibility for both remote and in-office work based on our hybrid work model.
**Accountabilities**
- Manage all payroll operations, daily and scheduled activities of assigned resources to ensure timely, accurate and compliant services are maintained.
- Timely resolution to inquiries and issues, monitoring volumes and overall quality of work
- Responsible for training, performance management and scheduling to ensure appropriate levels of support.
- HR Payroll Operations Coordinators and Payroll Analysts are effectively engaged and developed.
- Contribute to the overall success of HR Shared Services through teamwork and collaboration.
- Coach other internal teams on best practices, polices and programming to reduce errors in payroll and benefits processing.
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to resolve payroll issues.
- Ensure payroll data, including bonuses, vacation and other allowances are processed accurately in Workday.
- Complete other duties as assigned.
**Qualifications and Experience**
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in Human Resources or Business Administration or equivalent.
- Minimum 5 years payroll experience.
- Workday payroll experience.
- Kronos experience an asset.
- Experience with a unionized payroll.
- Completion of the PCP or CPM Payroll designation preferred.
- Work collaboratively with others, creating partnerships with management, human resources, and colleagues.
- Proactive and able to organize and prioritize with limited guidance; work independently or within teams and meet deadlines.
- Intermediate/Advanced Microsoft Office knowledge specifically including Excel (functions, pivot tables, macros, advanced formulas, etc.
