Job Position: Summer Student Client Services Clerk

Job Description: This position is funded by Service Canada Summer Jobs. The purpose of this position is to work alongside the agency staff and the Executive Director to help with the structure and implementation of Supportive Housing and Residential programming needs. Assist with the women, babies and children that call Michael House home. Some child-minding will be required as our clients often participate in programming structured to them. Being able to work and communicate with the Michael House team and community partners is critical.

Hours: 30 hours per week, Monday to Friday for 9 weeks

Contract Duration: Summer of 2024

Duties Include:

- Direct client contact - work with both the Supportive Housing and the Residential programs.
- Assisting with unit inspections.
- Presenting programs and doing craft and/or life skills programs.
- Could include attending appointments with clients.
- Write case notes at the end of every shift.
- Instructions on policies and procedures related to job descriptions and events.
- Attend meetings as required.
- Childcare during Primary Meetings and/or Counselling.
- General help and support with families as needed.

Qualifications:

- Relevant college or university educational background.
- Experience in working with new mothers, infants, and young children an asset.
- Able to work flexible hours as needed.
- Computer Skills: keyboarding and Microsoft Office.
- Knowledge of community resources in Guelph and Wellington County an asset.

All work at Michael House Pregnancy Care Centre requires staff to have read and understood the relevant Program, Health and Safety, Financial and Human Resources policies and procedures.

Community and Agency Relations:

- Follows the confidentiality policies.
- Supports the Mission Statement and Objectives of Michael House and works together with other Agency Programs to achieve agency goals.
- Promotes Michael House services to community agencies in the Guelph area.
